I reformatted yesterday and I can't get my PC anything beyond 640x480 resolution, AND I can't get any sound. I'm running Windows 98 SE. I have onboard video but there should be some kind of universal driver I can install to get higher resolutions? Or is there some type of other troubleshooting I can do?...how about for audio?

Check your company websites? What mobo do you have? Usually they have drivers to get.

I assume you don't have any of those "driver discs" that comes in most packages for your motherboard and various cards?

Nope. All I can really say is that I have an NEC MultiSync FE771SB monitor. :-\ A buddy of mine did this for me the last time I formatted my system. Argh.

Well crack open your case and look for any logos, or anything you can google with! Serial numbers, etc.

I doubt the monitor has anything to do with why you can only go so high (even at 640x480 even), so you'll be needing some drivers me thinks.
