Yeah that's right, you heard me...thus far on my PC IE is the superior product!

Actually, it just does a few things that I can get Mozilla to do...so I'll need some help. Hopefully others taking the plunge can find this post useful as well!

Keep in mind that some of these could be trivial, and I'll be searching for the solutions online and with the help files.

Thus far I've imported my bookmarks...awesome-awesome.

Problem 1: Getting used to a few new shortcuts...
In IE, to open a URL you just type CTRL+O and type it in. I can't find an equivelent shortcut that would do this in FireFox...anyone know if there is one?

Problem 2: Downloading files...
I downloaded a zip file and it asked me if I wanted to open it or save it. I click on save, and the prompt dissappears, and it doesn't ask me where I want to save it. I'm assuming that it saved it to a predetermined folder...

Problem 3: Random selection of text when writing emails/forumposts... Whenever I write a post or email, some text gets selected, and I can't deselect it for some reason. WTF is going on?

Problem 4: Links in a toolbar... In IE I got all my important links on the Toolbar...when I try to do the same in FireFox it screws up, it doesn't add the link sometimes, and I can't delete any. There is a Bookmark Toolbar Folder...I'll try access in in Explorer and add the links there.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what add-ons to get, or any tips and tricks to make using FireFox a bit more smoother? Is there a way for fit multiple windows in one screen like in Opera?

TIA!

2. Tools -> Downloads -> Options

3. This is a search feature. So you just type an expression in and it'll find it. If your not in a text box already it'll kick in.

Options -> Advanced -> "use find as you type"

4. Use the bookmark manager under book marks.

As mutiple windows in one screen, what do you mean as in several windows visable at once... or tabs. As for extensions just surf the extensions site and look for anything that might be helpful.

Problem 1: I was so used to doing this and the Ctrl-O from Firefox *surprisingly* just dont measure up to Explorer's Ctrl-O... What I did to remedy it? Install Googlebar extension and type the whole address in google bar instead. It'll take you the the exact site (only if you include http://) so it won't consider it as a search. Oh.. there's also an option in the googlebar to not have a history of what you're searching.

Problem 2: Say hello to Ctrl Y :) The only thing that bothers me about this is it keeps history of what you're dl but you can clear it of course.

Problem 3: No idea here man.

Problem 4: There's an "import favorites from Explorer" option. And about favorites... I finally got used to clicking Bookmarks in the Menu Bar instead of clicking the Favorites Icon in the navigation toolbar. Oh and once you import it, it sorts it in alphabetical order so yah, few minor gripes here and there in exchange for no pop-ups and all-around faster browser.

Oh just to add, look through the themes and extensions in Tools from Menu Bar. There are some neat extensions you can install which just kicks the crap out of Explorer.

Problem 1:

Right click on your bookmarks and go to properties. Fill in a short keyword. Then Ctrl-l to go to the location bar, then just type in the keyword. Press enter and BAM you're there.

^^ the thing about typing in the address bar is it saves whatever address you typed in it. In IE's Ctrl-O, it doesn't.

Well, don't visit Child Porn sites and I don't see why that's a problem...

no I don't have the fetish for the kids but I see that you and your sister and your grandmother has the same preference for midget porn.

is there any way to stop certain sites from being viewed on Mozilla?

I downloaded it today just to experiement with (after the countless amount of popups appearing when using IE), then got rid of IE :) Piece of shit

Thanks a lot everyone!

I knew that FF was better than IE, but there those basic things that I listed that I couldn't get FF to do. Thanks to your help it matches IE, and goes well beyond IE's capabilities with the Extensions!

Thanks again!
