Help with Xbox

Well I guess all the laughing at everyone who's Xbox has given them trouble has cought up to me. About 5 minutes ago in the middle of playing a game of Madden it stopped reading Xbox games. I it off and tried Madden again and it kept booting to the dash telling me to make sure I incerted and Xbox DVD or music Cd. I tried with ESPN Football and it gave me the same trouble. I tried a music CD and it played fine. Anyhow is there a cleaner or something that will fix this or do I have to buy another DVD drive? If I do have to get a new drive, will this screw me up on Xbox live as I heard that MS started recording the serials of all the hardware componets and if they change they will ban you. Is this true and can I get around it? Thanks.

Maybe its the Cache. Insert 3 more different games and then turn it off. Then play a new game... it should work...

Can't do that cause I only own 2 games. Also when the Xbox is trying to read the discs it clicks and sputters a lot. To me it sounds like the drive.

???

Can you be more specific? Insert the 3 individual games till they displays at the start screen? Or do you start them altogether, then power down and do the same for the other two?

I've got an Xbox from launch that is almost dead-its been this way for about a year now. It'll boot the games,I can even play them for maybe 20 minutes before I then have to put in one of those DVD cleaners, and then its good for another 20 minutes again. I was going to take it and sell it to EB for 30 bucks-I never knew about the Cache trick.

So ok-just have 3 different games boot up to the start screen, then try to play a game normally after that? I hope this somehow solves my near dead Xbox problem. It would be great to have 2 working Xboxs in my home.
