My current pc can usually run maya just fine with few hiccups along the way, but when rendering it becomes apparent that if i wanna make anything longer than 30sec in under a year...i need to plan for my next upgrade (which is always fun ).

The only thing i know for sure is that would like to go the dual pro route.

So, suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

if you go to www.highend3d.com they have the maya test scene info so you can see what platform is rendering fastest and what not

personally I run a P4 3.0GHZ HT 800mhz fsb, 1 gig of 3200 ram, an ASUS motherboard trying to remember which one but i forget, back in like febuary when I built my machine it was the fastest P4 board out there no idea if it still is, and just a 9600 Pro need to upgrade my video card soon, and I'd like to go to 2 gigs of ram

Maya renders damn fast on my machine, had a freelance gig not that long ago that required alot of maya fur stuff and it rendered it pretty fast
