Hey, hey. . . what about Castlevania PSP?

This just occurred to me. Konami seems to love churning out Castlevania games on the handheld systems. What are the chances we'll get an ultra swank PSP version of Castlevania within the next 18 months?

Damn that would be sexy.

Sorry to play the Luddite card, but eff that 3D Castlevania noise. Give me a SotN like game until Konami can figure out how to do it right in 3D.

Doens't exist. Konami knows what's up. It's now touching or nothing for Castlevania.

Admit it; you would've liked Symphony of the Night more if you were able to poke Alucard in the tummy like the Pilsbury Dough Boy, right? Well now you can!

Let's leave the poking of Alucard to the yaoi group tables at Comiket, alright? :P

I'd buy either a 2D or 3D Castlevania. Heck I loved Lament of innocense so yeah bring on a 3D Castlevania. Also-I'd love to see an overhead Contra shooter as well -have it with mode 7 type scaling thrown in and I'd pay 40 bucks for it.

I don't know what the chances are, but it really ought to happen.

It would be funny if it was yet another crappy 3d Castlevania so all of the PSP fanboys could go, "It's not THAT bad".

Maybe it's time you purchase a DS. Seeing as Dawn of Sorrow is hitting DS, and Sony's aversion to 2D games, I wouldn't count on a sidescrolling CV game on the PSP ever showing.

Couldn't be any worse than the Nintendowns afflicted convincing themselves they need a seperate screen for maps, or functions that have been perfectly executed with controller motions and button presses on a touch screen. :P

A 2d castlevania would be a wonderful choice, but it definitely won't fly. It's a mandate that we get a mediocre/shitty 3d version of castlevania for any system that has any significant power over 32 bits.

Dawn of Sorrow is gonna fucking kick ass because it's the sequel to Aria of Sorrow, not because it features touch gameplay or utilizes the 2nd screen as an on-the-fly map/character sheet/monster encyclopedia/equip screen/etc. (which in and of itself is pretty durn nifty.)

Sony fans are quickly becoming quite a whiny bunch, they expect EVERYTHING to come to they system ps2 or psp.

If you get one it'll be 3d and it will suck.

Igarashi is obsessed with creating an endless stream of crappy 3D games before he'll ever do a 2D title on a Sony console/handheld.

Castlevania Lament of Innocence was under-realized.

Castlevania Curse of Darkness actually looks worse than LOI believe it or not.

What's even worse is that COD will implement the dial-a-crap-combo that was in Nanobreaker.

Many here haven't played Nanobreaker, consider yourself lucky.

So basically, your intention in this thread was to stir up some shit. My fucking god. Iga's recent comments basically cement his dedication to the DS platform for the very reason that he prefers 2D Castlevania's over 3D.

Who's the halfwit that came into a PSP thread pimping his useless Nintendo wares?

Don't like the abuse? Stop posting useless shit in unrelated threads.

Let's not forget, shit 3D Castlevania games didn't get their start on the PS2.

Nintendo fans are no different. They have expected most games to come to the GC.

Sony's aversion to 2D games? What the heck do you call Darkstalkers Chronicle and Lumines?

Sony's in no place to pick and choose at this point. I'm guessing a year from now, when the PSP has tons of quality software, 2D games will become far less common. For that reason, don't be surprised if a 3D Castlevania shows up, but not from Iga.

What the fuck. Do you actually believe I'm trying to hide the fact that a 3D Castlevania appeared on the N64? Are you fucking nuts? Where do you come up with this shit? Don't make a fool of the Sony camp just because you fail to see the big picture.

I too believe Castlevania would be most welcome on the PSP, Castlevania in widescreen.... None of that touch screen chicanery of the DSN - Dual Screen Nintendo

Make it happen, Konami! I want my goddamn 2D Castlevania on PSP now! Make a SOTN port, then make us three brand new games much like the GBA ones, and using the most kickass 2D graphics we've ever seen in a Castlevania game. DO IT!! >_<

First off - Nintendowns? Good one, I can see you are a creative type.

Secondly - It's not game players that decided Nintendo would release a dual screen, touch screen, wifi, mic enabled handheld - it was Nintendo. And it was not game players that caused third party developers to fall in love with the idea of being able to create something new and different on the DS.

You want Castlevania? You want a 2D Castlevania? Buy a GBA and choose from 3 of them, or buy a DS and get a SOTN quality Castlevania in 2D for yourself. It's that easy.

You make it sound like Sony's going to tell Konami they aren't allowed to make a 2D CV in the future for the PSP. If its 3D it'll Konami's decision not Sony's.

Well they seem to love to churn them out on any handheld not named PSP. :lol :lol :lol

If you bought a PSP for Castlevania then you bought the wrong handheld. Maybe you can play videos of the DS version on your PSP or some emulators of the GBA versions but that would be about it for now.

Whiny bitches, two 'Vania's are on their way. Sure, a PSP title would be welcome but right now I get my 2D and 3D Castlevania fix, does the trick. While CoD isn't really shining in the graphical department the gameplay ideas sound great to me.

Rondo of Blood Chronicles please, let GBA/DS keep the broken little Metroid derivatives. Sad that there hasn't been a truely great Castlevania since 1993. :(

IGA doesn't like the PSP. He does like the DS.

This means that any Castlevania for the PSP will likely not include his input. This isn't instant death (Castlevania: Circle of the Moon comes to mind), but I wouldn't be hopeful (Castlevania 64 also comes to mind).

Both games were made by KCEK, which was absorbed into KCET and the CV team absorbed into Iga's CV team. Iga's the only guy making Castlevania these days.

Can someone provide a source for this "Iga doesn't like the PSP" quote? I remember "I like the possibilties the DS affords" remark, but that's it.

Ah, thank you Gaming Age for realizing my crazy nightmares of being swarmed by zombie babies. Now where's my splintery 2x4?

Nintendowns? Good one, I can see you are a creative type.

Nintendowns is © & ™ Drinky Crow, I'm using it under license.

Bought two shitty GBA systems, had all three Castlevania games. Been there done that.

Now I want a Castlevania title on the PSP. If this causes you some great discomfort, stop clicking on PSP threads.

If you bought a PSP for Castlevania then you bought the wrong handheld.

Still don't have a PSP, so STFUOOFLES!

Are you fucking nuts? Where do you come up with this shit?

The same place you come up with being a douchebag in PSP threads.

GOOD DAY SIR!

I would KILL for PSP remakes of Castlevania 1,2,3, 4, and Dracula X..... especially 3 or X.

It's been too long since we've had a traditional CV.

I'd rather have remakes than a new game because I have very little faith in Konami's ability to do a traditional CV title that could top 3 or X. Those two games are still the best games in the series IMO.

^
This is Konami. Remakes don't exist. You'll get ports. And it'll either be squished, stretched or cut-off. Pick one.

So you just wanted to troll. :( Drinky is so good, he inspires shitty imitators.

So you just wanted to troll.

Uh - no, you twit.

So far as future console purchases go, the PSP is pretty god damn high on the list. So this is not without basis for need.

The NintenD00DS on the other hand. I'm not so much interested in a gimmicky GBA player. I'll wait on the GBA2 and pray to god Nintendo doesn't fuck it up.

No skin off my teeth though. Nintendo fucks it up, they lose another market and the one console vision marches on. ^_^

i don't remember iga saying that he doesn't like the psp, but i do remember him saying that he evaluated both consoles at e3 last year, and that ds was the one that excited him. hence touchlevania. :/

so yeah, it's clear that castlevania is in the hands of a madman. sotn was a false dawn. iga is killing the franchise.

question. Was iga involved in CotM?

CotM was pretty damn good, barring the difficulty in viewing do to Nintendo's shit hardware.

iga is killing the franchise.

Wait, did he have any involvement with SotN?

So far as I'm concerned SotN, CotM, and AoD were great. That Harmony of Pissypants one was fawful.
