If you sell an item, and people have e-mailed you about after the auction is over (so you know it'll sell), but the douche who won the auction hasn't even replied or anything after 24 hours, is it cool to relist?

obviously not.

How is this obvious? I mean, what's the grace period to let someone pay. I mean, I want to unload this item ASAP and other people are practically begging me to sell it to them. And this guy won't even reply to e-mails. I'd be content if he said, "Hey, I will pay you in a day or two."

You said you loved it, but no, here you are, trying to pawn it off like your ex-girlfriend's Hello Kitty vibrator. Asshole.

I'd give the buyer at least two days to respond, possibly a bit longer if they've got a good amount of positive feedback from winning previous auctions. Some people only check their e-mail once a day, or avoid it entirely on the weekend.

No feedback. Kind of bothers me.

If you didn't put a time limit in the auction, 7 days is probably the bare minimum you should wait. After that, you can file a "Non-Paying Bidder" complaint and relist. You really shouldn't relist until then because the buyer may reply within that period and if you no longer have the item, they'd have every right to file a complaint against you.

24 hours really isn't a long time. Be patient.

It's the weekend, a lot of people actually go out and do things then. Not me, but some of those weirdos.

By the way, you can also make a 2nd chance offer to one of your underbidders at the price they were willing to pay, or if you decide to relist and it sells, you get your insertion fees refunded.

"Your bid is a contract - Place a bid only if you're serious about buying the item. If you are the winning bidder, you will enter into a legally binding contract to purchase the item from the seller. You should contact the seller to resolve any questions before bidding.... It is suggested, but not required, that members involved in a transaction on eBay contact each other within three business days after the listing ends. This does not include weekends or holidays."

So yeah, don't think about relisting an item after 24 hours.
