What about Beavis and Butt-Head?

"since I primarily grew up in the 90's I"m pretty much biased"

You kids have no historical perspective!

80s cartoons > jesus

MTV actually had some good stuff back in the 90s, before it became a non-stop stream of reality-tv shows interspersed with crap music.

OMG, Reboot!

My mind just came all over itself.

EDIT: Seriously, is this show on DVD or something?
AFAIK, Reboot season 1&2 were owned by ABC, but then Disney bought them out and canned the show, then they parted out and sold off all the stuff they didn't want. Last I heard, the Reboot season 1&2 rights were supposedly bought up by some German investor who literally had no idea that he even owned them, and had no desire to ever sell them, or something like that.

Season 3 was funded by Mainframe themselves (and the Government of Canada, and YTV, and probably some other groups), so Mainframe owned the rights, and they let ADV release the series on four DVDs a number of years ago. They've been out of print for a long time, and seem half impossible to find (there's like, one disc on amazon.com, and the guy's asking $50 for it). I think I heard that ADV is planning to re-release them in a box set.

Season 4 (funded by the Cartoon Network) is available as the two movies on one DVD, and seems widely available.

I watched:
Eek the Cat
Marsupilami
Bobby's World
Rugrats
Doug
Ren and Stimpy
Tiny Toons

but yeah I think the 80's cartoons are still the best =]

I remember being shocked at how Reboot became such a badass show by Season 3. It's also one of the only cartoons I can recall that ended with the villain triumphant.
As far as I know... and if I remember correctly, I think the User ends up rebooting the system at the end of the show.

Here's my contribution to this thread:

Funnier than I remember. It was cancelled far too soon.

Preach it. I'm glad I wasn't the only one please by the AWESOME direction Season 3 took, with a grown up enzo matrix AND a legitamate ending. Far to many of these shows that put the character on some kind of odyssey have the decency to end them properly within a realistic timeframe.

the end of season 3 matrix is one of the best things ever. Such a fantastic show. Im glad I had YTV to watch it.

Matrix is the ultimate and bets 80s toon.

wait a minute no one said Xmen???? That show was awesome, and the revamped versions of the FF4 and Iron Man had potential but were in shitty time slots on saturdays.

Spawn was also hotness.

I never understood why the new Johnny Quest cartoon never got new episodes (there was only 1 season right?)

also, you're forgetting Thundercats and Silverhawks, and I never thought anyone else remembered TaleSpin and The Tick

just to let people know Toon Disney shows some 90's cartoons in the evening and throught the night (check your local listings... times may depend on the day of the week what coast you live on)

11:00PM The Tick
11:30PM X-Men
12:30AM TaleSpin
1:30AM Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers
2:00AM Garfield and Friends

This thread is like looking at my childhood on paper. Good memories.

I love Garfield and Friends
I remember Garfield saying something that would differently not fly now a day. He said, "He needs to be dragged out into the middle of the street and shot." I was so young I didn't even realize what he was saying, but as I got older I realized Garfield was a bastard. :lol Leave Odie alone you damn cat, and eat your lasagna. And even at a young age I always felt bad for John, he couldn't buy a date.

Was not the 90's also the hey-day of Duckman?

KAHN CHICKEN!

What was the last episode of Duckman? Was it the one where he's about to marry Kahn Chicken's wife, then Duckman's
thought to be dead wife comes in. Followed by Cornfed saying sorry
? If not, what was the last episode?

Duckman on DVD?

I Completely forgot about Eek! The Cat. That was one of the last kids cartoons I can remember really liking.

There was Camp Candy, I think that was in the 90's.

Dr.Katz was excellent, in some shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested development remind me of Dr.Katz.

I loved Mighty Max.

toy_logo_us.jpg

I used to watch it along with Bobby's World every morning.

Doug used to rule as well, especially the Quailman episodes.

I just remembered more:

GARGOYLES
Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates
James Bond jr
Talespin
DUcktales
Tiny toons
Animaniacs
Pirates of DArk water!

The greatest 90's cartoons are:

The Simpsons(late 80's, but it's really 90's)
TaleSpin(1990)
Tiny Toon Adventures(1990)
Darkwing Duck(1991)
AeonFlux(1991)
Taz-Mania(1991)
Ren & Stimpy(1991)
Batman:TAS(1992)
Pirates of Dark Water(1992)
X-Men(1992)
SwatKats(1993)
ExoSquad(1993)
2 Stupid Dogs(1993)
Sonic the Hedgehog(1993)
Reboot(1993)
Animaniacs(1993)
Space Ghost: Coast to Coast(1993)
Where on Earth is Carmen SanDiego?(1994)
Gargoyles(1994)
The Critic(1994)(1999)
Duckman(1994)
The Tick(1994)
What-a-Cartoon!(1994)(origins of Courage, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, etc)
Pinky and the Brain(1995)
Freakazoid(1995)
Earthworm Jim(1995)
Superman: TAS(1996)

It all went to shit after that. Unless you want to include Futurama(1999) and Family Guy(1999)

YES! Add Cartoon Planet and we have a deal!

Oh yeah!

And you can add Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot and Sam and Max to that as well.

I remember somewhat liking Quack Pack. Goof Troop and Bonkers were meh-ish. Marsupilami/Raw Toonage/Schnookums and Meat were pretty ho-hum. Aladdin: The series was disappointing. The New Superman/Batman Adventures were all right...(at least I liked the Superman portion. The Bats portion wasn't bad...but I was spoiled by the first show).

I can't comment on anything on Nickelodeon, since I haven't watched 1 second of that channel since late 1993.

Anybody remember the MASK cartoon? I liked that a bit. Ace Ventura wasn't too bad either.

Also, there were 2 short-lived toons in the mid-to late 90s. Xyber 9 and Calamity Jane ring any bells? I thought those were pretty good.

You mean there are more?

From 1989-1995, there were some awesome, experimental cartoons, for sure(can't say that today :P). But there were some pretty crappy ones, too.

Anybody remember these?

Where's Waldo?
Stunt Dawgs
The New Pink Panter(he talks!)
Hammerman(UGH)
ProStars(Double UGH)
WishKid(TRIPLE UGH)
Yo Yogi!(Quadriple UGH)
Super Dave
Tom and Jerry Kids(OK, this one wasn't bad...but it wasn't too hot either)
Free Willy
Beethoven
Zazoo U
Histeria!(Let's make history fun! Good concept, poor execution)
Toonsylvania(I think you're just about done with toons, Spielberg)
Detention
The Cat and Birdie, Warneroonie, Pinky Brainy, Big cartoonie...oh fuck it, that Kids WB 'thing'
Dumb and Dumber(Yep, there was a cartoon based on the movie. and it sucked. Hard.)

wtf Tom and Jerry Kids was awesome!

And I remember that Where's Waldo show! It lasted for like a month! :lol

Back to the Future and Bill and Ted's cartoons rocked!

Bill and Ted was adequate, but Back to the Future was missing something...oh well, it was pretty neat how they had those live-action 'Mr. Wizard'-ish segments with Doc Brown.

Himuro said:
I used to watch The Mask everyday.

Also, they should have played more of Calamity Jane. Seriously.

Heh, what'd they show anyway, 2 whole episodes? That has to be the shortest lifespan for a cartoon ever.

Yeah, mostly an '80s cartoon, but the initial syndicated run is still great even today. Much of the writing/creative staff went on to do Babylon 5 and other such stuff. It's criminal this show isn't on DVD, but at least there's one good episode on the new Ghostbusters collection. Unfortunately the second episode on the set is from the later series after it moved to CBS Saturday mornings, and it became Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters, and hence utterly retarded.
