Now, I'm no tree hugging "save the whales" freak... but I do have a heart. This video seriously made my stomach flip. Honestly, these animals are getting treated worse than slaves. Seriously disgusting stuff.

I felt the need to share it with you guys, and yes, I'm sure some of you have already seen it.

Meh. i watched the video. i'm an ovo-lacto veg myself (i basically don't eat land animals), but seeing this video didn't really affect me. What bothers me isn't the "inhumanity (if that's the word) in how they're being treated, but the possible concerns for food contamination, new bacterial/viral outbreaks, and the relative nutritional value of the meat we're eating.

Edit: It takes a special kind to work in one of those places. i guess i could see it if you grew up on the farm and saw the gradual corporate takeover of it, but i couldn't see myself working there, or a hospital for that matter. Seeing living things in horrid conditions daily would drive me crazy.

What do they suggest for people who like to eat meat but don't want to support the inhumane practices of the meat industry? I mean, it seems pretty hopeless to me. I would imagine the situation is the same in pretty much all these plants.

Semi - Eats chicken, fish, eggs, and dairy.
Pesco - Eats fish, eggs, and dairy.
Lacto-ovo - Eats eggs and dairy.
Vegan - No animal products.

You're a semi if you eat chicken. I'm a pesco. I can't give up the fishies I love Japanese cuisine too much.

Minotauro: Find a co-op in your area, eat free range chicken and beef. Free range still isn't great, but it's better than the mass produced meat. Organic eggs >>>> mass produced, too. They taste so much better. Even though it's more expensive, organic food tastes soooo much better. Organic orange juice with high pulp is sweet, sweet ambrosia.

I knew a research scientist that had Peta members protesting outside of her work. They were showing people photos of animals being tortured, and telling them the photos were taken from inside this building. They were not. They also slashed her tiers. Classy
