Well its that time again. Hockey is upon us. Pre season officially starts tonight.

So here is an OT to discuss all things hockey. I will be rooting on my Habs even though they don't have much of a chance this season.

Oh and fuck the Leafs and fuck the Bruins /s

Steve Yzerman was the best hockey player that ever graced the game. NHL died when he retired. Always played Detroit in NHL 94 so I could be him.

The Canucks....

Can't freakin tank right. Foote should just pull the goalie at the start of the game at the rest of the season. I mean why not? We have a home record of 4-11-1...we are almost halfway through the season and have won 4 home games.

I am not a fan of saying the coach is the problem but in this case Holy f....we need a new coach who can teach young talent. Tank for McKenna. trade Boeser and Petterson(40) for young talent and some draft picks.

Dude I am riding a buzz right now and I love the canucks bit this team is pissing me off with getting rid of our captains and coaches every other year.

This team needs to invest in young talent and HAVE FUCKING PATIENCE. ok I realize I am getting a bit amped on this. But if you look at the Sedins, burrows, kesler...we fucking had patience. We got the twins in 2000...went to the cup in 2011. Sure we didn't win. But how many fuckingbcoaches did we have in that time? 3? Crawford, AV (a player's coach they got rid of) and I want to say we had 1 nore *Quinn comeback early on?)

The organization has no fucking patience and until they do, we will continue this stupid shit of a rebuild every 2 years. I want you guys who follow hockey...think about how many times your team has not only fired your coach but traded YOUR CAPTAIN.

Ok I need to chill. Sorry all. Riding a buzz and follow the canucks and I have spent the last at least 12 years watching the Canucks fuck themselves over and over...

The world juniors reffing is terrible.

Nothing called on Sweden. Not even American, but i think the US is getting royally shafted.
Was it that bad? They got more power plans than the Swedes.

We beat the fins tonight. Was a bit of a shoot out. Pretty good first period, I missed the rest though.

Seems like the Canucks are still committed to the tank. They've been playing ok and they had a good game against Boston tonight but their record at home is abysmal. Although a lot of the newer players we got have been pretty good so far and is certainly encouraging, Buium and Karlsson have been great. Also talks of Sherwood possibly resigning which I would be happy with I know many want to trade him while he is in his prime but he's a good player and would be a shame to lose him.

Foote in my opinion isn't the right fit for the team they need an aggressive coach to keep them on track and he isn't it. Say what you want about Tocchet his discipline and play style is what pushed them as far as they did and came in after Boudreau and whipped them into shape and they had a stellar season.Foote really comes off as another Boudreau and that won't work with this team. It's funny like I mentioned the newer younger guys are standing out right now and it seems like our older players are falling behind. Petterson (40) has his moments and seems to finally be picking it up he isn't playing like an 11m player. and Boeser is either there or he isn't and you don't know he is even on the ice most of the game. Kane has not been performing well and him and Myers spend half the game in the box which does us no favours.

Still this year is a write off so now would be a good time to develop and mess around with lines and stuff like that. They aren't playing terrible but they are certainly not fun to watch right now.

Yeah tonight's game the last 10 minutes the canucks really seemed to be controlling the play. Sherwood resigning would be sweet. I am really hoping we get a couple younger guys through picks, bring Malhotra up and remain patient.

The key is to remain patient.

Started watching hockey particularly the Columbus blue jackets, I prefer other sports but again I value the NHL, I'll bring up TNT if the situation is big teams like the panthers, avalanche or oilers I'll watch. Other teams have a chance, kraken, penguins etc. back to the blue jackets, despite their struggles it's good to see how buttoned up their fans are with support and managing expectations.

Flyers fan here, ever since old NHL games with Lindros. It's not a popular sport in the UK and difficult to watch on TV.

Nice to see we're not being our usual dreadful selves. Could potentially go top of the Metropolitan league since we've got a game in hand.

Yeah the Flyers have been having a pretty good year so far. There is certainly a chance they could head to the top of the division the point gap is pretty close. The game with the Ducks right now has been good and so far they're on track to win.

Canucks took another loss tonight against Buffalo, pulling the goalie was a terrible idea and was too soon I mean I get why teams do it but with how we were playing it was a guaranteed goal for Buffalo. We did get a few quick goals though and I was hoping we could have tied it up but didn't happen. I also see they traded Cootes to Prince Albert which are close to the top in the WHL here's hoping he can get a chance at a memorial cup before coming up to the NHL.

Just Heated Rivalry, no?

There is only one hockey show that matters and it isn't that.

Tonight, the Canucks looked like they wanted to tank until the last 5 minutes,. That's when I started yelling at the tv. At the 10 minute mark of the 3rd period, when Foote didn't pull the goalie, I didn't think he was going to do it.

Good to see the Canucks are fully embracing the tank. Last 3 games on the start of their East Coast swing.

4 goals for.
15 goals against.

Tonight they lost 5-0 to the leafs without pulling the goalie.

Back at last in the NHL where we belong. Reddit is pretty "face palmy" when it comes to almost everything but the /Canucks subreddit is pretty damn funny.

Edited to bring up something that has me pretty amazed. The Winnipeg Jets have me thinking they are cursed this season. They just lost 13 straight until winning their last game 5-1. But the amazing thing is, their goal differential, when their ranking is 31st out of 32nd, is only -9. They have lost a majority of their games by only 1 point.

If you take a look at the blues, who are ahead of them in the rankings by 5pts, they have a goal differential of -45....MINUS 45!!!

Even better news Demko is injured again so now it's time for Tankinen. They pretty much look like they don't even care anymore, everyone skates around with minimal effort and they just look sloppy all game. I guess it is what it is at this point it just sucks that the games aren't even remotely interesting or exciting it's gonna be a long rest of the season.

So here is something for you gaffers. Do you think the NHL should play in the Olympics?

I am against it as they don't pay to win a medal, they get paid to bring home a cup. Can you imagine being MacKinnon in the olympics and you tear your all? How hard do you think Colorado teammates are going to go on MacKinnon knowing you need him to lead the team when you come back? How hard do you think players will go on him thinking if he gets hurt now, he can't return to the Avs when we get back to regularly scheduled programming.

In my opinion, the NHL doesn't have to be at the olympics. Use this time to showcase young talent from juniors. *in Forrest Gump voice* with Demko injured...again...if I was the Canucks management, I would say yeah, lankinen, you aren't going.

Edited for spelling error

I love that the Canadian NHL athletes are allowed to play in the Olympics again. Watching them play (AND WIN) in Vancouver and Salt Lake back in the day was so much fun. It's our consolation prize for never winning the Stanley Cup, haha.
