So take this with some heavy salt and I'm not pulling this out of me arsh, but I have an acquaintance who's relative works in one if not the largest US based printing presses, who has secured the promotional material deal with Nintendo for switch 2.

According to them they are receiving materials now about the launch and pricing, and that the system will retail for $349.99 for the base system and be release around Black Friday in the US.

If true and we will find out for sure next week that's a longer wait then expected, but a much better price than expected.

Reason being that Nintendo heard a lot about the ps5 pro price backlash and did not want the switch 2 to have any reason for slow adoption.

Just passing on this news and like to hear your thoughts. Again this is a rumor at this point..

/que the my uncles brother jokes….

Oh My God Wow GIF by reactionseditor

I believe it will launch in the holiday. The only reason to have a switch 1 direct is to hold off

"My uncle works at Black Friday headquarters" vibes

In seriousness though I would love for Switch 2 to be $350....

$350 handheld only
$450 docked
$500 docked OLED
$600 Mario Odyssey 2 edition
$1,500 Nvidia Edition
I'll wait for AMD version should be about $500 cheaper, and you jest but they might do something like this!

Also releasing 9 years later might actually allow them to release at switch OLED pricing actually. Keeps sales moving and gives them a price bump in 2026/2027 for an oled respec.

The timing of the direct this morning would make sense then if Switch 2 is releasing that late in the year. Maybe the thought is it would soften the blow of a later than expected release. I still think it comes out in June or July though.

It's a rumour from the relative of an acquaintance of the OP - whilst it is probably going to be 99.99% reliable, you never know!
The printer would most likely know relevant info like price/dates but would not know the why.

As for the BF timing. Maybe the printer is printing BF info and not the actual release date promo?

I know that but why would they know anything about the reasoning behind Nintendo's plans? They get given stuff to print, so they print it, that's all that happens. They don't have beers with Mr Nintendo while discussing Sony's Pro price.

This guy thinks he's smart and authentic because he included Black Friday in his prediction

But it's actually a bit dumb

That'd be cool, but man, who knows? At this point it could really be anything. At least we only have to wait until next week to know for sure.

Where do we expect that we can pre-order the switch 2? Best buy? Target? Walmart? Who else am I missing? I want to be ready lol

I don't see it launching at less than $400 especially if the rumor of a 120hz screen with VRR is true

Why would Nintendo give the reason for the price to some random dude at a promotional company lmao.

Pulled this one out by the ur ass

I'd be seriously surprised if it's anything under $399.
Hell I wouldn't be surprised if $399 just gets you the handheld system and they have some some $480 bundle with the dock (which you can also buy separately for $100).

I get they have an incentive to try and keep the system affordable. But Nintendo also likes selling their hardware with a decent profit margin from day 1.

I guess we'll find out next week.

Nintendo has form for releasing consoles in September to November time. It also puts the price up by $50 or so every other gen, but given how long since the Switch came out maybe it gets a bump.

It's hard to believe that pricing is something they would tell their suppliers before announcing at a Direct - it would obviously leak.

This is some dumbass shit if true. I am not mad at paying less for a console, but how can Nintendo equate the price of the PS5 Pro to whatever underpowered hardware they're going to deliver? Rumors suggested that the Switch 2 would perform at PS4 or PS4 Pro levels. They could charge $400 for that and Nintendo fans will pay it on day one. It's not like they're going to release a premium console at a premium price.

As always, Nintendo remains clueless. I am very sour on them in general despite wanting to really lean into their consoles and games again. I have personally never cared about Nintendo Directs and I find the leak and speculation and prediction culture around such things asinine and cultish, but now I am highly interested to see what Nintendo reveals at the Switch 2 Direct.

Ask yourselves 2 things lol Is Nintendo dumb?? No is Nintendo greedy?? Yes, why release a system for 350 thats gonna be scalped to hell and back for 6-800$ for atleast the first few months if not longer??? Lol I'd release it at 500$ bare

Don't see any reason to hold gameplay sessions in April for a November launch.

Also price looks unrealistic given the price of the parts.

With DLSS all games will run at impeccable 1080P on a small screen at 60fps/90fps and with a graphic configuration higher than a PS5 and cheaper!!!! Rip Sony

THIS!

The last gameplay session is June 1.

I wouldn't expect a launch until after that event, but not as far out as October or November.

I'm thinking a mid/late June launch if they want the launch to happen in the 2nd Quarter, July for 3rd Quarter.

I'm not sure what to think about the rumors that Best Buy is starting pre-orders April 2nd. Possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
