Holiday 2006, what games are you getting?

Well since Nintendo delayed Zelda today, I've started doubting the existence of santa claus and I would really appreciate some ideas for some purchase worthy holiday titles. So what are you getting this chrismas?


Xbox 360's launch titles are putting me to sleep but we still got Fire Emblem, Wanda...what else?

There's no telling. 99.9% of PS2 exclusives untouched, Fire Emblem, perhaps the Gameboy Player + a game. Many choices, but a pretty deflated holiday overall since Zelda got delayed. As for 2006, more of the same until I save up some money for next-generation consoles.

Is Oblivion a launch title?
 
This fall is sure an interesting one for me. Normally there's like 20 PS2 games I'm interested in, and like 10 for Xbox and a few less for the Cube. Last year I couldn't wait for the Toys R Us sale so I could save a few bucks off all the games I was buying. This year is totally different! I only see myself buying 3 PS2 games the rest of the year (Dragon Warrior VIII, Shadow of the Colossus, and Radiata Stories), and none on the Cube or Xbox v1.

Xbox 360 games I'm definitely interested in are PGR3 (which if it were a woman would have my babies), Kameo, N3, Perfect Dark Zero, Elder Scrolls IV, DOA4, and Ridge Racer 6.

I really can't tell at this point in time if its BECAUSE the 360 is coming out that my interest in other titles has dwindled, or if this fall's lineup is just not as stellar as past years.
 
Here's what I plan on getting for the rest of the year:

• Beggar Prince (Genesis) (Wish I knew how much this was going to set me back...)
• Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PS2)
• Dragon Quest Slime Controller (PS2)
• Magna Carta: Tears of Blood: Deluxe Box Set (PS2)
• PStwo (Price drop would really help with this one...)
• Radiata Stories (PS2)
• Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA)
• Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga II (PS2)

That's pretty much the minimum right there, though. Basically things I either want to play on Day 1 (see: DQVIII), or things I want to pick up before they become hard to find (see: ...well, anything with an Atlus logo). If my budget decides to be nice to me, however, I'm also going to grab an import Nintendo DS (Black), along with a copy of Mario & Luigi II. :)
 
Well, I know I'm not getting Zelda (thanks, Nintendo!), and that was pretty much the only big game I was looking forward to.

To each his own of course. I have a white friend who is a total Japanophile, and he rips me all the time for liking xbox. He goes there with his wife (which is Japanese) and brings me back all of the newspaper clippings of all the hottest software and hardware just so I can see that xbox is all but non-existent. I respect that he likes psuedo gay japanese schoolboy RPG's and SNK 2D fighters, but I wouldn't play them if they paid me.

Then when 2006 hits I will get the 360 versions of each, plus Madden and Live. Tiger Woods and Fifa 360 will be strictly rentals. Of course many Asians play games you rant about. Heck the guy who runs Operation Sports (is Asian). Yet somehow he continues on running a sports gaming site.

I'd take an SNK 2D fighter over any of the xbox launch titles and I hate japanophiles.

I actually am Asian, which might be a contributing factor to my tastes no? I think most of the 360 launch titles look gorgeous, and will probably be fantastic for fans of the respective series involved. I just look at them and see the same 'ol same 'ol that I didn't bother with this gen.

No as I edited above the guy who runs Operation Sports is Asian. You are simply stereotyping Asian gamers. Just as I pulled the reverse with a Mosquito based Dating Sim to show you the folly of your ways.
