My dad is getting a new one. He likes this:

but I think it's ridiculously overpriced. Do you guys have suggestions for something with similar or better quality, wireless back speakers, and a lower price tag? He wants the DVD player in there, but it's not required. It's something I'm trying to convince him not to do.

OT, but my friend's wireless Logitech speakers get interference from his Logitech wireless mouse. I thought that was hilarious. Go Logitech QA!

I would buy any of these over a Sony HTIAB, although not wireless (I'm not big on wireless speakers anyway):

Their most expensive THX-certified system is still cheaper than that Sony. He can then spend the money he saves on a superior Panasonic DVD player.

Most home theaters in a box aren't going to really be that great. Is he looking for specific features? Is upscaling a necessity? Do the speakers have to be wireless?

If he has that kind of money and is looking for a theater system in a box, he should get an onkyo sound system and a different DVD player.

Also, what kind of TV is he hooking it up to?
