Good old Sega Channel! It single-handedly put the Genesis ahead of the SNES for me. I mean has there ever been a better way to try 50+ games a month? The fee was reasonable. The download speed no problem. The game selection, rotated but many games stayed on for months on end!
Along the way it even had some exclusives in the way of Sega Solitaire, Ristar, VF2 (which was crap btw [the Genesis version I mean!]), and so on. If it weren't for the SC I wouldn't have ever know the greatness of the Shining series, Comix Zone, Flicky, and even Streets of Rage!
How in the world did Sega pull this off?
Getting 3rd parties to go along with it?
The downloading itself?
Allowing for pretty much a save file for every games?
And why oh why has it not since been copied even once?
