How about that DOW?

It just keeps going, and going.

So I was looking at some maxes and mins.

Oct 9, 2007 - 14,164.530 was at the time, the all time high
March 9, 2009 - 6,547.050 was at the lowest point after the crash
March 5, 2013 - 14,253.770 was the day it finally "recovered" to beat that Oct 9, 2007 high.
May 19, 2015 - 18,312.391 was a high point
Feb 11, 2016 - 15,660.180 was a low point before a pretty nice climb
Jan 26, 2018 - 26,616.711 was the peak of an incredible run
Oct 3, 2018 - 26,828.391 another peak
Dec 24, 2018 - 21,792.199 was another bottom out

If you're in the investment game, stay in long term. You can't time this baby.

Wish I had some skin in the game. I know it’s a net benefit to the economy but I see no direct impact from it, myself.

Here’s the thing.

We were due for a correction for a long time, and, sorry to those affected by the corona virus, but this gave us the excuse to have one. It will pass, and the growth will continue.

Analysts, both professional and armchair, will dub this with a cute title just like they did with the dot com bubble, the financial crisis., etc. Hunker down and weather the storm. The corona correction.

This is cyclical with every major outbreak. Markets dip, outbreak reaches peak levels, markets recover within 3-6 months.

I think i’m gonna max out my ROTH IRA contribution for the year today. Maybe I’ll wait a few more to see if the drops continue.

Markets are down 15%. this week. I sure as hell hope we're near the bottom, even if we're not there yet.
All we need is one piece of bad news, like the Pope dies this weekend, and the crash will continue.

I'm heavily hedged with puts so I'm OK with it going down or up next week. If it goes up my puts lose but my portfolio wins. If it goes down, my portfolio loses but my puts win. I'm just trying to tread water here and hold the line so to speak, not interested in trying to make a killing or whatever WSB thinks they are doing during this period of high volatility.

I put in $6k while it was around 25,500. Glad to see that might not have been the worst timing.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
"Hard to time a falling knife" they said...

Not really if you are playing the long game. After today's growth, I already made money good returns on last week's dip, I didn't even enter at the actual bottom. Also, I am confident it will dip again after the next set of quarterly earning calls but most intelligence is already priced in.

Thank you for the tip Donny. I still think you are a mad man, but I'll be damned if I haven't profited like crazy during your tenure.

Yeah, just ROTH IRA index fund (VTSAX). Probably won’t actually matter much by the time I end up taking it out.
Yeah VTSAX is the way to go for ROTH IRA/401k IMO. Maybe there is a better path, but that has worked darn well for me. I used to be in one of those target retirement funds when I was younger, and I hate myself for it.

Yeah, I only wish I started earlier in my career. I basically blew my 20s buying frivolous bullshit and not saving or investing other than paying off student loan debt.

My ETF's are sky rocketing.

Also glad I bought GE stock at 5, its already up to 7.
Even Berkshire is doing well.

Seriously considering day trading as a way to make an extra $500 a week.

Boooo get out

How is the Dow going up a good thing??? Millions of people are out of jobs and a ton of businesses are closed. It's not reflecting reality and doesn't make any sense. Stocks being overpriced and people buying them when they're overpriced is not a good thing.

Sounds like someone forgot to buy the dip.
