how do you hookup a VCR to PC to trasnfer files?

Yeah, you need a video card with a video-in plug. Maybe someone with better expertise can help you out, I've never tried it.

FMT: Your best bet would probably be a TV Wonder Pro.

1. TV Wonder Pro/PCI: Connects to your PC via PCI port...obviously
Older model than the USB one, but works like a charm. It's the one I use.

2. Same thing/USB: Able to connect to laptop, or any PC you have in the house.

Both have SVideo In, Component In, and Coaxial in. USB is easier to set up the audio, since it's all one little box that does it all. With the PCI one, you have to connect the Audio out from the card, to the audio/line in of the soundcard.

Is there anything in particular you want to record/transfer? Just VCR tapes? Or are you actually going to record cable TV or something.
