For those who are more into smartphone specs and things like that, how does the iPhone 6 and the 6+ compare to devices like the LG G3, S5 and the new Moto X?

LG G3 is still by far the best smartphone out there. Also has the best UI, LG's skin is absolutely beautiful.

You're joking, right?

I also think that while the G3 is a spec driven device so that on paper it looks the best, it's a good example of how consumers are misled into thinking that bigger number = better. But that's just my subjective opinion.

The moto x looks badass, but isn't the resolution, camera and general look inferior to the G3?

The fact that you value the G3 having an excessive 1440p resolution over the Moto X's 1080p is really something that proves my point. Camera is definitely worse, but general look is more subjective. I for one like the X's look over most of the Android competition, if not all of them. But, again, that's just me.

The resolution is perfect. The G3 is straining it's little cpu with all of those pixels, which is where the battery and heat concerns come in. They were about a year too early. Moto X stuck with a 1080p screen, which the Snapdragon 801 can handle with ease.

And guess what, you can't even notice the res bump in the G3.

The camera on the G3 is better, but only marginally. Not even noticeable unless you really try.

Look is subjective. Moto X has a shit ton of hardware customization.

The Note 4 (and also Note Edge) and S5 are tons better spec wise. The Iphone 6 doesn't even seem as good spec wise as the S4.

This list should include the Xperia z3 as well.

What Apple does do better is efficiency. It's the main positive of having a closed OS that you can design hardware around.

The new iPhone will destroy in graphical benchmarks, but for 90% of people, that will not matter all. There are way too many Android phones that are more affordable and offer a great experience right now.

The new iPhone is comparable to the Xperia Z3C size wise. The Z3C seems like it will offer more all across. Once Android L comes to it, I think that it will be safe to say it will be the better phone because of design, waterdust/proof, vastly superior battery life, PS4 remote play, possibly better camera, and most importantly stock-like Android L.

KitKat is already a better OS. If the app support was better on Android, then it wouldn't even close.

Dam, every time I see a chart like that when a new iPhone is announced I always side Android. The value proposition is there, but I'll be dabbling in iOS for the first time to see what all the fuss is about.

Different OS so it is really hard to say. They both have their pluses/minuses. Would like to see some real world battery stats on the iphone 6/6+. iPhones and Androids are getting so fast these days that I think it just depends on which phones have the features and app support that you want. Personally, I really like removable battery and microSD card support, along with wireless charging. Hopefully the iPhone 6/6+ will have extra RAM since 1GB is pretty low.

You could probably look at benchmarking tools and all that, but from day to day usage I would be surprised if you would notice much of a difference speedwise.

Then why even bring it up? Does anything other than real world use matter?

Specs still make a difference and also affect real world usage. Add to that, it shows how much value proposition these manufacturers are actually offering their consumer base, because the specs of these devices are where much of the manufacturing costs are.

No.

Some people thinking it's still 1GB.

Probably so if they aren't even mentioning it. Their 'technical specifications' page is a joke.

As a dev I'm completely fed up with the lack of RAM. If it's seriously still 1GB that will be hilarious.

This too. They announce all these new features for devs like Metal and go ahead and leave the RAM at 1GB? It really limits what can be developed with these phones when you compare the specs to flagship Android phones.

Do the android phones have anywhere near the selection of quality games available at this point in time? That's the major thing keeping me on iOS.

Probably, but I do most of my gaming on my Playstation. Regardless, everything I've ever wanted and more is on the play store.
