How many Games do you own Physically?

Hello all!

My first thread ever since I become a proper member!

A little fun thread about how many physical games you actually own.

If you can go into detail like I am going to do then great! If not, then it will still be interesting to see just how many you own anyway!

Please show us your numbers! :)

I don't keep any sort of list(although i'm going to after seeing your list) but between all systems I own in the ballpark of around 75-100 physical games. And Kingdom Hearts 3 is the only pre-order i currently have atm.

That is dedication man. Bravo for that amount! Do you own that Hudson Shmup as well? I am very curious about your N64 Collection!

I don't keep track of money spent, but I do catalogue my physical games.

More than 3,000 cartridges and discs, from NES to Wii. PS2 games lead the way with more than 900 discs. I’ve been collecting games since 2011, and have been steadily building my library since.

Specifically:

PS2: 931
PS: 672
Wii: 294
NES: 252
SNES: 186
Genesis: 153
Gamecube: 128
Nintendo DS: 81
N64: 71
Game Boy/Game Boy Color: 69
Game Boy Advance: 63
Dreamcast: 59
SEGA CD: 48

Notable rarities/valuables:

Blood Will Tell (PS2)
.hack//QUARANTINE (PS2)
Valkyrie Profile (PS)
Lunar & Lunar 2 (PS)
Contra (NES; complete in box)
Tengen Tetris (NES)
Sunset Riders (SNES)

When I quit modern console gaming after this gen ends, I have enough games to play that I can try something different every day consecutively for eight years... and since I’m going to be working full-time for the next 20 years, that’ll last me even longer.

I also have another 100 or so modern console games on disc or game card, between PS4, XBO, and Switch.

To be honest, I only do it as I am not that rich and look for bargains every single day.

You definitely have more than I do (mine is 333 without Digital, 514 with digital).

I want to sell a few of mine off that I have Platinumed or even just lost interest in, but I will need a sturdy box for a few larger purchases I own.

Thankfully I have bought a bed that can store stuff in it (which I don't have at the moment), which should help with some of my stuff such as my Retrogamer collection.

The DS number is interesting though. I can never find anything I truly enjoy on it but I am actively looking in that area to see what there is.

DS library is brimming with gems. For instance, have 36 (just counted to be sure) different puzzle games on the DS. I could easily add another 200 games to my collection at the drop of a hat, no question.

Best Nintendo system so far, but will probably be surpassed by the Switch.

It can take a lot of work but once you start it is definitely easier to keep on top of.

It helps as if you lose anything, you can see if it is on the list or if you double purchase something.

It also helps to keep as an Insurance Back up (I know they don't always rely on this, but the log helps where you have updated and deleted entries because you can print off the logs to show this).

At 100 Games, you should be fine if you categorise the Console and PC outputs separately.

I have about 7 tabs for this for SEGA, Nintendo, Sony, and "Other", and I have the Digital Side separate as well as Pre-Orders mixed with Total Value/Amount.

Lastly, I have the console purchase separate and display the prices of what I have paid and whether they have been modded or not (quite important as it can decrease the value of a console).

I also categorise Lost games as well in case I need to find them when I have time to. I have around 20+ games lost somewhere either because they do not have a Box or Case or just because my parents stored them somewhere I don't look into.

I always hear that damn EA game being a classic and I wonder whether I should bite! XD

That is quite impressive though! Do you own Sands of Destruction by any chance? I want to try that out at one point.

I also heard that one CAVE game is on there that is Japan only. Given your name is based on Shmups, I wonder if you own this game?

Edit: One of my lost games is Hellfire in case you are curious. My very First Shmup!

I think around 300 but i haven't counted them.Maybe less maybe more.

It's not a very big collection but in all honesty i was never interested to have a huge collection just for the sake of it. I'm very proud of what i have because they are all hand-picked and i know they interest me 100%. You'll not see any filler games just because they are cheap and neither you'll see any rare games just because they are rare. Anyone who knows me as a person and looks at my collection they will realize that all the games in my shelves make "sense" to be there.

I love Hellfire. I was happy to finally obtain it for Genesis with the case and manual. One of my personal trophies.

I've played Sands of Destruction and thought it was cool. There are probably 100 RPGs on DS that are average or better i.e. worth playing depending on your tastes.

Ketsui Death Label is the game you're referring to, and no, I haven't bothered to get it. It's a boss-rush mode of the Ketsu arcade game and it's pretty impressive considering the hardware. Not worth the current second-hand price. Ketsui PS3 and Ketsui Deathtiny (PS4) are much cheaper and far superior.

DS also had Bangai-O. Must own if you have a DS and don't hate fun.

It's region free so I have some imports too like Blood of Bahamut, Colpile, GG Series Collection.

My parents bought it me because it was cheap in the 90s! I suck at shmups but I do love that game and the soundtrack! (I only got to level 3 once without the Game Genie) Is it rare in the US or something? I don't know how rare it is in Europe but mine is CIB at least. (or was...cannot find the damn game!)

That is true. I have Luminous Arc 2 (sealed), which I want to play after beating Stela Glow as it looks similar.

Ah I see, fair enough as I was thinking of getting that after being put off by the PS3 price! (at least from the prices I have seen. If it is cheap I will look it up!)

I actually got that at a bargain price of £5 a few months back. I will definitely give it a a go! (I also own the original on Dreamcast but the small character on the screen put me off).

Are they Import Friendly? I wouldn't mind trying those.

Oh, and Rondo of Swords is apparently good! Never came out in Europe either.

It looks quite interesting. Is it a simultaneous Twin Stick Platformer? (looked up the gameplay).

There is a FromSoftware game I want to own on the PSP but eBay doesn't like to show a legit Case and UMD for it and it seems that Germans mostly own it! (It is a Puzzle game with a long Japanese game but I forget the name of it) You use Ninjas to Solve it.

Some imports are Japanese-only so you have to muddle through the menus.

Hellfire is uncommon, but not rare. Not to expensive for those who'd like to play the Genesis version, thankfully. It's one of those rare instance where the home port was superior to the arcade, kind of like Turtles in Time.

Most of my stuff is on PC and I sold most of my retro collection last year.

Ah I see. Did they improve the framerate or difficulty? I liked the OST to both but only ever owned the MD verison.

Leonidas

AMD's Dogma: ARyzen (No Intel inside)
350+ physical games spanning 15 consoles.

I rarely buy physical these days(digital is too convenient and most of my gaming is on PC) so that number has not really increased this gen.

I got lots and lots of physical copies more of collectors edition. I’ll either count or take a picture of my library.

I have a lot. A couple thousand on my shelves. I haven't counted them in a few years.

Quickly counting now I have 280 PS2 games with the cases and instructions. I think I have more PS3 games than that but it's hard to count since a bunch are collectors editions that are sitting next to PS4 and PSP collectors editions. Some are in the collectors boxes and some are not. Counting these things is a multi-day process, lol.

I have games from the NES up to now. Kept nearly everything I've bought since 2001. I'm so glad I bought a bunch of Saturn games around 2003. They seem valuable now. I have Panzer Dragoon Saga, of course, but I was happy to see Saturn Bomberman being worth way more than I paid (I bought it for $50 with the 6 player adapter!).

Less than 20 physical (consoles - PS4/Switch).

Digitally like 750 (PC).

I'm probably missing a couple though since I don't always remember to update.

I sold off my original collection which is why there isn't so much older stuff.

Haven´t counted in a while but it should be around 300 games, spread across four systems (PS1, 2, 3 and 4). I have maybe 30-35 games digitally. If I can get a hold of a physical copy I go for that. I also have 3 physical games on Switch but I just bought it so haven´t had a chance to build up a library yet. I´m worried that the Switch-games will be pulled from retail much faster since games on Nintendo-consoles seems to have a limited amount of copies. It seems so atleast, don´t know if it´s actually true. Civ 6 on Switch is already gone from the stores here in Sweden, but maybe they will print new copies.

I've only played the first level but yeah you move both characters simultaneously and each one is overcoming obstacles and solving puzzles that help the other progress. It kinda reminds me a bit of Brothers but it's much more challenging thanks to the time limit. There are some clocks that if you step on them can extend the time but still i wish there was a mode without time limit.
It also has a vs mode where you can play with someone else which i think could be pretty fun!

Hmm i've never even heard of that FS game for PSP.

I've been all digital for a long time. I actually remember Microsoft first announcing "Games on Demand" for the 360. I bought 3 or 4 games the first day they were available. Perfect Dark Zero, Oblivion and (I think) Fight Night 3 or 4. Now I remain 100% digital, though it's all Switch and PC for me at the moment. I don't own an Xbox One, but I like that if I went to buy one I'd have a full library of 360 games just waiting for me to download that I've bought over the years.

I went all digital on the PSP,PSTV, and the PS4. The sales were just too good. I only have a couple of physical ps4 games due to limited editions and imports. I may go all digital on the Switch too since some games aren't completely on the carts anyway.

0... sold all OG Xbox and 360's discs, and since 2013 I've gone 100% digital... I can't even entertain the idea of owning physical media other than my books and vinyls, and even so it's more for nostalgia because Kindle and Spotify are the best.

Zero
All digital due to having no permanent home, and traveling around different countries for years. All digital since 2009 and sold most physical. At that time.

Too many on PC, especially if you count everything from disks from PC magazines. Not really a console gamer but I own a bunch here and there (some Sega Saturn ones, some Playstation ones, some Playstation 2 ones). I guess I should really catalogue them at some point. Currently, they are all sitting in the basement because I have no space and still lack a cupboard. Didn't stop me from spending 800€ on (15) physical PC games this month though (excluding shipping) -_-

I haven’t counted in a long time, but it is likely in the 600-700 range spanning consoles from the Atari 2600 to present. It’s mostly Nintendo with a decent share of Genesis, and various PlayStation (PS1-4) games. I’d actually like to downsize pretty drastically (probably around 300-500 games), but I don’t know the best way to do so at the moment.

Counting them would be pretty hard as they're spread in 2 houses and a storage, most likely 500+. The only ones I have on display are the collector's editions.

None. Watched Fight Club one time too many.

Actually not entirely true now that I think about it, I do have a disc version of GTAV for 360 in my junk drawer from back when I wanted to play it and couldn't wait for a PC version. Bought the physical game and borrowed a console.
