I remember buying a 64GB set for $200 and thinking what the fuck I'm doing paying that much for ram, but wanted my system to be "future proof". Same ram is now $700 directly from Newegg and not some third-party jacking the price up. Crazy.

ive been out of the loop with whats happening, i got pny xlr8 32 gig of ram back in june for 135aud, but at the moment it looks you cant grab 32gigs of ram for less than 600 !! what kind of joke is this?

Today? dunno. can't find it anywhere. ebay had some that sold in july for $180ish.. I bought these as a warranty issue... but i never sent back the other sticks for credit. i still have 1 good 16gb stick.... would probably fetfch a few dollars for it.

Why do so many of you have 64 gigs of ram? are you editing feature films? :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I have 32 GB of RAM and I regret not having 64 GB right now looking at prices. As long as consoles don't suddenly increase their memory pools a lot in the next gen I should still be OK but I feel like I'm not really future proof with 32 GB and I have no idea when prices might improve

I got whatever ram was included in the series x who cares? My favorite thing about this thread is not loo long ago 4GB a ram was a lot, 4GB ram people stunt'd on 2GB Ram people, I think 6-8GB ram was huge.

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) has a total of 512MB of RAM, but it's split into two 256MB pools: 256MB of XDR System RAM for the CPU and 256MB of GDDR3 VRAM (Video RAM) for the GPU, each optimized for its specific task, allowing games to run smoothly despite the seemingly low amount compared to modern PCs.

I can't really find the exact thing since it's DDR4. I have Patriot Viper Blackout 64GB DDR4-3200 2x32GB. Looking around that's probably $350-400. It was $98 from Amazon in 2023. I'm extremely glad I decked out a full PC back then.

It's absurd. This must be the peak and things must normalize in the next few months, otherwise hardware will become impossible to buy.

Yes, yes, expensive PC parts for gamers like us sucks, but that's irrelevant: laptops, Mobile phones, game consoles might become simply too expensive

I thought why not, i will use the same sticks on my next build as well so i won't have to think about RAM on the next budget.

I also like using RAMdisk and VMs.

Seems like i chose wisely. My RAM sticks now cost 970 euros.

Just had one of my 32 gig DDR5 sticks go bad. It was causing BSOD. Still have the other one, thankfully.

Yeah that's my fear as well. If ram, ssd, or gpu goes bad it's going to cost a lot to replace. And that's if you will be able to easily find it. Which at some point you won't.

I bought some DDR4. This one to be specific

It's DDR4 3600 CAS 16 2X32 and I got it from amazon for $229 at the beginning of November.(I was playing around with AI video generation online and wanted to try it with ComfyUI locally.) Looked it up just now it's $355 on Amazon. That a bit of a price increase. (One downside with it was I couldn't get it to work with my existing 2x16 crucial ballistix that was already in the system. I guess if I wait a couple more weeks I can just sell those stick on ebay or something.
