How much longer will M$ keep the x360 release date a secret?

I went to preorder the 360 and the EB guy tells me they sold Out WTF? (yea yea i wish i had the will power to wait for the price drop as well) anyways no release date and yet its sold out already? no launch games list either?

It's been sold out at seemingly every video game store in the country since a week after E3. I was told at one Gamestop today that I could be in their THIRD shipment for a $50 deposit. Yeah, uh, bite me. I'm waiting until EB or Gamestop start taking online preorders, that's where I'll get one.

They'll announce a date by the end of the summer, but its pretty clear it'll be mid-november. I wish I had preordered before E3, but I don't think it'll be that hard to buy one at a real store like bestbuy or walmart or something.

I was hoping to trade in my xbox at eb towards it :(

You can always buy the system somewhere else and trade the xbox in towards some launch games. Or preorder anyway and hope they get more than they estimated in their first shipment,

They are probably just evaluating production and trying to be as sure as they can before they go public with a date.

Lack of info on launch games I find more suprising, I guess they figure that there will be enough people wanting to buy one no matter what comes out at launch.

I think they said at E3 that they were about two months from announcing price and date details. I would expect them by the end of July or August.

3rd shipment as well at my local gamestop. I was the 2nd guy to do it.

Don't you have 20-some games preordered as well? Y'know, "third shipment" could mean as long as a month later, worst case scenario.

29, but who's counting :lol :D

shipment talk is all up in the air, no real way to know the quanity of units each store is allocated.

I don't know if it would help any of you guys, but the last time I checked one the local Gamestops still had some first shipment pre-orders available. If anyone's interested I could check and then you could call them and pre-order if that's possible.

your best bet is best buy/circuit city but expect to be bundled.

will EB and gamestop be doing midnight launches???

Man, so many people giving Gamestop and EB intrest free loans.... :(

I understand what you're saying, but Gamestop is the nearest gaming-centric store to me. Wallyworld is just around the corner, but I hate fighting the toothless melungeons who frequent that store; and their selection of games sucks in comparison to Gamestop.

Granted, that is what I've done, but I look at it as long term planning. Get it out the way now, so you don't have to worry about it later on. Scrambling for money. I had to do that for the N64 launch. I literally left with 2 pennies after Toys R Us got over on me. Mind you I was working at Ponderosa in high school and only got 150 take home every 2 weeks. Plus my mom stopped giving me lunch money my senior year since I had a job. Mario 64 looked kindy tasty at times. On top of that, I got duped into selling Cutco knives at the same time. Nobody really makes money with Cutco knives. I had to buy the setup kit which was $175, all of this around launch time. I tried my first presentation with my mom. Even she laughed at me. Fuck that, I no longer scramble like Randall Cunningham, I pre-pay long in advance. Pre-pay for life!

Yeah, my goal is to have my 360 prepaid before the summer is out. Friend of mine is the GM at a local EB and they are at about eighty preorders and he has no clue what the first shipment will be or if he will even do a midnight sales event.

All GameStops run off the same system. If one GameStop is on the third shipment sku, they all are.

The issue is that these companies just don't know how many they're going to get yet. Third and fourth "shipments" could be launch day if their initial allocation ends up being a decent number.

I agree with Icebeezy, I love this method because it's like your game "bank." Whenever I get a gift card or I have some extra cash and I'm in the neighborhood, I just stop in and put it towards the system. I've put down enough for the system and with $50 a month I'll have enough for a few launch games and a second control or whatever.

This has probably been going on for a while, but I just noticed that people are already selling X360 pre-orders on eBay. A couple are up well over $200. Planning ahead, I guess..

So 29 * $50+$299=$1749 spent at launch...

Do you plan on spending this kind of money at PS3 and Rev. launch if they have the games?

No, I'm partial to the Controller S, I've never been a fan of the Dual Shock, and sure as hell won't be of the boomerang. Games that have online as an asset, XBL will always win out. Mind you, this is just of between 360 and PS3. I always buy Nintendo consoles because of Zelda, every other game is a bonus. Animal Crossing was a bonus, F-Zero, RE4, all bonus games. I will get it at launch though, along with the PS3. It will basically be an extension of what I do now. I have God of War, Metal Gear Solid 3. I bought San Andreas for PS2. Why wait? I'll get exclusive IPs from both Sony and Nintendo. Multi-platform games will go to the X360. Besides, my gamer tastes are basically suited for it. Competition. Racing, FPS, Sports. I still love my niche titles, but I love playing online. Just hopped off of Halo 2 a second ago, going to Battlefield 2 now.

They'll probably push it out as far as they can without impacting holiday sales. That probably translates into the week before Thanksgiving.

I dont think it's a secret i think its more of a race against time to get enough consoles ready.

TGS and X05 are much too late to announce these details.
Expect more details within 5-6 weeks, so the first Fall paper magazines can have all the details.

I want to see PD0's graphics when they work it out. Supposedly they say take what we've seen for a grain of salt but I don't know. Never seen a developer show a game where your supposed to take what it looks like for a grain of salt. Then what's the point of showing it? Just talk about what it's got.

Anyway, also hope GRIII(it's a way better title), CoD2, and PGR3 turn out amazing. And I want one other title to shock and awe us. An original one damn it.

Yeah, I don't think they'd wait until TGS just to say "Hey, the 360 is coming out in the US 2 weeks before Japan suckers!"

This is worrying, i was hoping to import one from US. But with all you guys buying your allocated units it might take up to 2 month for import stores to recieve stock.

Fuck that, i might have to buy lame PAL X360 :( Means 2 xbox 360s for me this gen, NTSC and PAL units. Noway am i going to wait for Halo3, GoW, Fable 2 etc on EU release shedual

Wait for Spacewor.... oh wait you were asking about MS disclosing info... my bad.....
