Airs THURSDAYS 10|9c on ABC

Characters:
Annalise Keating (Played by Viola Davis (Yasss))
1200.5x2.jpg

Annalise Keating is everything you hope your Criminal Law professor will be – brilliant, passionate, creative and charismatic. She’s also everything you don’t expect – sexy, glamorous, unpredictable and dangerous. As fearless in the courtroom as she is in the classroom, Annalise is a defense attorney who represents the most hardened criminals – people who’ve committed everything from fraud to arson to murder. Annalise seems like she has it all – a successful career and a loving husband, Sam – but soon she will be forced to confront secrets about her life she never saw coming.
Nate Lahey (Played by Billy Brown)
1200.5x2.jpg

Nate Lahey is a tough, respected Philadelphia detective who works tirelessly to uphold the law. There’s only one person that can get in the way of that… Annalise Keating. Assertive and sharp, Nate doesn’t allow people to play games with him. As a result, Nate is one of the only people Annalise can really be herself around. But that doesn’t mean they’re entirely honest with each other…
Wes Gibbins (Played by Alfred Enoch)
1200.5x2.jpg

Wes Gibbins is a born leader… he just doesn’t know it yet. With his boy-next door charm, Wes comes to Middleton Law School as an outsider. But under the wing of Annalise Keating, Wes will quickly learn the dark truths of the criminal justice system while stumbling upon some of Annalise’s most personal secrets. The more time he spends with her, the less innocent Wes becomes.
Connor Walsh (Played by Jack Falahee)
1200.5x2.jpg

Connor Walsh is the smartest person in the room… or at least he likes to think so. A sexy, sly heartbreaker, Connor is used to getting any prize he lays his eyes on, ensuring that he and Michaela will constantly be in competition with each other. No matter how dirty the deed, he’ll go to any lengths to earn Annalise’s admiration. But what’ll happen when she pushes him a step too far? Will his natural confidence be able to carry him through a much darker journey?
Michaela Pratt (Played by Aja Naomi King)
1200.5x2.jpg

Nobody wants to impress Professor Annalise Keating more than Michaela Pratt. In fact, she doesn’t just want to impress her… she wants to be her. Michaela is an ambitious overachiever who was born knowing how to “lean in,” and she has the stellar resume and successful fiancé to prove it. Always the first person to raise her hand in class, Michaela is exceedingly over prepared and ready to amaze any professor or person of authority. But Annalise Keating? Will prove more difficult.
Laurel Castillo (Played by Karla Souza)
1200.5x2.jpg

Laurel Castillo is a secret weapon in the making. A quiet, sensitive idealist who enrolled in law school to learn how to defend the less fortunate, Laurel manages to stay under the radar, making it easy for her fellow classmates to underestimate her. With a profound attention to detail and inventive mind, she’s talented – and darker – than anyone realizes, including Annalise.
Asher Millstone (Played by Matt McGorry)
1200.5x2.jpg

Asher Millstone was born into a world of Ivy League educations and country club memberships. To his classmates, he’s an entitled, uber-prepared know-it-all, but Annalise knows something about Asher that will surprise the rest of the students – and end up making him a pivotal member of the firm.
Rebecca Sutter (Played by Katie Findlay)
1200.5x2.jpg

Rebecca Sutter plays her music so loud the walls vibrate… which isn’t ideal for Wes, her next-door neighbor. A bartender at an off campus bar, Rebecca is no stranger to Middleton students…and their various vices. Her edgy, take-no-crap attitude scares most people away, but Wes recognizes that her pierced, intimidating exterior is just a cover for a much more haunted, vulnerable side – especially when she’s pulled into the mystery surrounding the murder of a popular campus coed.
Frank Delfino (Played by Charlie Weber)
1200.5x2.jpg

Frank Delfino’s a local Philly boy who never thought he’d be the type of guy who wears a suit to work. But he also never thought he’d get to work for someone like Annalise Keating. Forever loyal and armed with hometown connections, Frank is ready to do Annalise’s dirty work at every turn. His street-smart, tough-guy exterior makes him the ideal protector for Annalise. His number one vice though? Sleeping with the students.
Bonnie Winterbottom (played by Liza Weil)
1200.5x2.jpg

Bonnie Winterbottom appears sweet and kind, the perfect counterpart to Annalise, but she will show her claws when you least expect it. As Annalise’s dedicated associate, Bonnie works around the clock to do all the behind-the-scenes casework, as well as help guide the students. Though she may reprimand Frank about his questionable decisions when it comes to his personal life, she is his biggest ally and protector. Besides, Frank knows that Bonnie has secrets too.

The ending with Annalise in tonights episode was so good. Idk what was symbolic about her taking off her face and hair but the #9words though

Also Connor is so cute even in his many states.

Good show. If I were more into procedurals I'd watch it more religiously. Even with the
flash-forward subplot.

What? The show just went Super Saiyan tonight, realeth be.

Case of the week aside (though Elizabeth Perkins was a delight), shit finally hit the fan in a good way.

I think the symbolism is:
She took her "Armor" off. You can see she is emotionally tired and her relationship with her shit husband is really hurting her but even so she was not afraid to confront Sam about the pictures, she is still strong even when she's "Naked."
at least that's what I think.

I think that's part of it.

I mean seriously, she was wearing the wig the first time we saw them in bed together, and anyone who's worn a wig knows that shit ain't comfortable to be sleeping in.

I don't think it was necessarily symbolic of her taking off the armor as you said, but more just a declaration that it's truth time, so topple down all the walls.
)

The show still has to answer, though,
for the cop lying about the husband's alibi. Maybe he just wanted Annalise to get over it and go back to a happy life before she ended up ruining his career.

So
her wig and make up are kind of supposed to be her putting walls up to avoid reality?
As for the Nate thing, yeah, I think he wanted to save his ass and make Annalise happy. There's probably more to it though because he was still investigating during this episode.

None of the characters are good, or particularly interesting. The dude who jumped out of the window couldn't act, but the necessary amount of fuckery to keep me engaged with the show.

Scandal started out much stronger, because at least you cared about the team by this point. But there's no meat to anything yet.

I really liked the make up scene, though.

Randomly watched the first 3 episodes of this while bored today.

I just want to say the shit Michaela said to her fiancee at the end of episode 3 pretty much sealed the deal for her claim as worst human in the world. Hope they never try to make the audience like that character.

Why's your penis on a dead girl's phone?

Show has problems, but when the show works, it's really clicking. This week was a significant step up from the week previous.

I think the symbolism is:

It was really on the nose, but it was done well enough that it wasn't too groan worthy.

the whole "i'll divorce you and take all your money" line rant cuts deep

Not shocking tbh, all of these characters are assholes. Save for maybe Laurel.

This show's gay sex scenes coupled with Scandal's...
WlfXhrF.gif

My jaw hit the floor when this line passed the censors: "He did this thing to my ass that made my mouth water."

Tucah

you speak so well
This has replaced Scandal as my weekly dose of Shonda trash (even if she doesn't actually write this show and even if nobody here is as fabulous as Mellie).

Oliver is a hottie. Conner is a douchebag.

It was so cringeworthy watching the characters deal with hookups and it meaning more...and coming off as desperate.

like UGH too real.

i think it's about time they stop with connor fucking oliver for help. time for a real plot with them to get going.

also that white chick Bonnie. we need a backstory on her. something about her is off.

also anyone else keep picturing this when they see wes?

The first episode was enough for me. I kind of get the appeal. It's face paced and edgy. Feel like it's going too fast honestly. I got burned out in one episode. Lots of quick cuts, the flash backs, the pacey music, everything is just too quick. I stopped watching after this one scene at a dinner party and the camera must of panned between two characters at least 8 times lol.

I PVRed last night's episode and have yet to watch it, but will tonight or tomorrow.

The show started off really well with a good pilot, which thoroughly intrigued me. However, it's declined since.

Oliver is a damn cutie. You can teach me Javascript any day, sexy...

Along these lines, I'm done with the show using the one gay character's sexuality as some sort of scandalous Mcguffin to move the plot. 3 episodes in and it's already super fucking old.

Looks like we need to get some dirt on the prosecution or else it's curtains for our case! Wait! Looks like someone with some connection to the case and/or may possibly have access to vital info is GaaaAAAaaaAAAaayyy. Let's watch as Connor uses his Gay Magic to fuck something useful out of him!

I know the intent is to normalize gay sexuality, but the result is a pretty boring, one-note character.

The actor who plays Wes is so out of place it hurts. His mannerisms are ridiculously awkward, as if you can detect him literally playing out the same gawky steps in his head ("Crane my neck THIS slanted, open my eyes THIS wide, raise my voice's pitch THIS high").

His body language is so affected, I can't. It also doesn't help that his American accent is the worst I've ever heard on a major network television show.

Kind of agree with a lot of folks here

Started high on this show, and I still watch live, but it just seems to be the same thing week-in and week-out.

On the bright side, it doesn't look like they are going to stretch the flash forwards out the entire season since they went from 3 months to 7 weeks in about 4 episodes.

I think right now, almost all of the characters are one-note. And even the character-centric episodes do little to actually flesh them out.

But it still is entertaining enough

This show is such a pile of excrement. I'm really puzzled as to how people can swallow this fast food version of what could have been a well written drama. It's as if either the writers assume viewers are dumb as shit to not be able to connect the dots, or they didn't know how to write a murder mystery with unlikable characters.

So
her wig and make up are kind of supposed to be her putting walls up to avoid reality?
As for the Nate thing, yeah, I think he wanted to save his ass and make Annalise happy. There's probably more to it though because he was still investigating during this episode.

I took it as him getting back at her and likely being in cahoots with A) the husband, and/or B) the kid's parents, etc. I'm sure there will be a fast forward scene next episode to point it out to viewers in case it wasn't obvious.
