PFTH! Slight my ass...either my comp was slowing it the fuck down...but GA/ESPN/Clutchfans.net load a good second or two faster than normal. ESPN especially...it would try to load all the ads and crap and take forever...and the last part to ever load was what I wanted, the actual text.

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
That's a noticeable speed improvement.. gotta remember to do this at home... and like Miguel said espn.go.com DEFINITELY loads faster.

i tried pipelining a while back, and there was a noticeable increase, but some pages loaded slower or wouldn't load at all. Definitely worth trying, but if you encounter one of those problems, make sure you remember how to turn pipelining off.

And it sucks the hair off of hairy balls. Well, it's actually just really slow on my machine. I've got a G5.

I didn't mess with the settings. I'll download it again and try it, but every page it loads, it's always turning my pointer into that little swirling rainbow thing. If you know anything, please, I'm dying here.

What's your setup? 10.3.x? I always try rebuilding my permissions if things are acting hinky.

Version 10.3.7
1.8 GHz PowerPC G5
768 MB DDR SDRAM

Whatever that means, but I don't think it's my comp's fault.

Install the Tweak Network plugin. Same job much easier plus you can go back to your original settings.

Now I just need a plugin that will allow IE to load in a tab for the one site I have to use for work that does not render in FX.

If it sends 30 requests everytime, won't this really hurt whatever site you're going to? Like you count as 30 hits every time?

Pretty much, although 30 requests is a bit insane for browsing anyways. Another reason why i disabled it. Pages load fast enough, and it's not like a few seconds saved versus the server load is going to make my browsing that much more enjoyable. If the tweak network extension lets me use it only on certain sites, i might start using it again.

Hinky? I don't think I've ever heard that...

Ah, I think it was a line from The Fugitive with Harrison Ford. I dunno, it just seemed kind of appropriate.

Serafitia, I'm running it on 10.3.7 on a 1.2Ghz iBook with 512mb of ram. Did you have the spinning wheel problems with Version 1.0 or one of the beta versions? Does any of your other apps exhibit such behavior? The only thing that seems to be really flaky is the AdBlock extension really messing with some flash stuff. It doesn't seem to bother them on the install on my Win 2k box.

Mad props to Fort for bringing this to our attention. I skipped it over at first thinking it was some stupid gimmick, but it's for real. Many thanks.

Nice! I easily gained two or three seconds. Thanks for the tip!

BTW, why isn't Firefox setup like this from the get-go? Would it be harmful to 56k users or something like that?

Pages would load slower or almost completely broken because with 30 connections, most items on the page would time out. Also, as a default, it would cause a drastic server load as Firefox gained popularity. Lastly, some sites don't support pipelining and won't load at all.

Hmm.

Especially as someone who pays for server bandwidth, that almost makes me feel guilty about using it. :/

Ahaha.... I think piplining crashes my friends forum. Everytime I don't visit for a while... it'll start working, but as soon as I try and get on the site... boom it's gone.
