I really liked the first one but everything they've released about this one makes it seem kinda so-so. I wish they had gone for a different voice for the older Hiccup, then again everyone but him looks exactly the same so maybe it just seems like he's older in this movie.

I haven't watched a CGI movie in ages but that looks beautiful. Amazing that less than 20 years ago, CGI for these types of movies at an incredibly high budget looked like this:

If you want to see this on a big screen, they play it before Rio 2 (Rio 2 really sucked though so may not be worth it for you). I liked it, I don't think it'll live up to the charm of the first one but I think they will do a good job of hitting the same right notes.

I'm kinda seeing this solely on how good the first one was. One of the best animated movies ever. The marketing hasn't done a good job of making me excited for this one.

I'm weak T_T. But wow, could this possibly be as good as the first? I'm more confident about it now.

Also, I'm very excited to hear more of John Powell's music :D.

It looks nice, but I honestly don't get the appeal for this, or its predecessor. I mean, it looks solid, but nothing special. Now Home, that I wanna see; that looks like a great book re-imagining.

That was great. I love this franchise.
So many good animated movies but the first one was my favorite. Dragon 2 is a must see.

Movie looks gorgeous but layering a "regular" song over a scene like they do with hiccup/toothless' intro feels tonally off for this series

Just Jonsi. He's doing
3 songs
for the film and also apparently worked with Powell.

I am invested more into this movie's score than the entirety of my college education.

Interesting! I liked the end credits song for the last movie, I hope the other songs are better integrated

Not watching, the first is one of my favorite animated films.

Like others have been saying, I hope Powell delivers.

Small preview of some new themes with Toothless and Hiccuup looking at the map and when the logo shows. Too early to say but there's promise. Sound very adventure/unknown lands-ish.

Never really understood the love for the first one, but I'd be lying if I said that wasn't some fine CG they've got going there.

I guess you really need to have watched the TV series to know all the story details

Not really. The TV show takes place immediately after the first film. This one takes place 5 years after the first movie and doesn't appear to share any plot points with the series.

It'll be interesting if (minor show spoilers)
Alvin or Dagur show up in the new movie.

In a recent interview Jay Baruchel mentioned that a third season is planned and that events in it will in some way lead up to the third movie, so I don't know if that means season 3 will have the riders as teens or young adults.

HTTYD is one of those movies I never get tired of. My daughter is crazy about it too, so I'll definitely see this too.

I saw the first one without knowing anything about it and it blew me away. Now I'm just sad that because of my higher expectations I won't feel the same thing again.

To be fair, the marketing for the first one was shit too. As a person who works in advertising, marketeers are kind of morons.
