How's this HDTV? Deja Vu edition

Inputs look good, its sorta smallish and the contrast ratio is pretty poor... and if its anything like their LCD monitors, the response time will suck... but the price is good.

Edit: in fact, that 8ms response time even admits its a grey to grey, so I would be surprised if there isnt any ghosting. Given that Viewsonics 12ms response time monitors actually have response times close to 20ms, I would expect this to be slowish, and it may not be full color (some of their monitors arent)

If you shop around, you should be able to get a far better 26" Samsung or Panasonic LCD for around a grand. This thing doesn't even have HDMI input or an HD tuner.

Is the response time what causes ghosting? I've noticed quite a bit of ghosting on my PSP. Not sure what its LCD response time is...

edit: nvm google is my friend :lol

yupp, alot of LCD monitors have bad response times and ghost during games... the brighter your backlight, higher your contrast settings the worse they get. So if your having PSP problems and can tone either of those down it well help. Alot of LCD monitors with fast response times will do so by faking some of the colors through dithering instead of getting you true color... which is my worry with this monitor since it doesnt say how many colors it supports (why would they hide the information if it was good news).

about hdtv shopping... are there any stores that match online retailers?

only if you find someone really really really dumb at a B&M store. If you could you could knock nearly a grand off any TV.

Seems to have a decent review here. The one place he knocked it a bit was interpolation.
Unfortunately, the interpolation was less than exceptional. It was acceptable for video games, but the image quickly became jagged when screening DVDs. That's too bad.
HDMI isn't that big of a deal to me since X360 doesn't support it and it would bring my cost closer to $1500. Also it seems most HD content providers include an HD tuner with their services, so you don't really need one in-set.

Future Shop/Best Buy is pretty good for that, depending on the manager. Just bring a printout with you and give it a shot sometime.

As I understand it, the response curve for an LCD pixel changing is nonlinear, so "grey to grey" is actually the worst (slowest) case - it should actually be faster going from black to white or vice versa...

That could be the case, but I had allways heard that these response tests that alot of manufacturers report are based on ideal conditions (i.e. contrast and backlight are turned to next to nothing).. it could be grey to grety is slower than black to white.. but I still take the published response times with a grain of salt.
