How's your luck with refurbished products?

I started buying refurbished products
now every chance I get since I have not had any issues with them
and the price is usually way more affordable.

And many times I recommend them to people around me.

how about you guys,
ever had them give out on you, issues, or it's gone smoothly?

I had a refurbished Nexus 5. It looked brand new and worked wonderfully. Unfortunately the charging port broke a year later. I'm still not sure if that was my fault or not (my charging cable was bent)

Nintendo refurbished products are pretty good. I bought a refurbished DSi years ago (kinda 2013-2014) and I was happy with it.

Got a refurbished Huawei Watch from newegg. Other than a few things wrong wit hthe charger, it works perfectly plus it was $100 cheaper. Can't complain.

i bought an acer xb271hu recertified direct from acer, gamestop used consoles, amazon warehouse, gamefly used.

all works great.

ive been buying all my consoles from amazon warehouse, ps4, ps3, vita.. will probably get a switch that way soon, $250

Depends where you are getting them from and what the product is. Always check that the seller is reliable and has a good warranty. I buy a lot of refurbished tech stuff at my job. Laptops and tablets etc.

Much cheaper than buying new and has a better warranty (at least the company I get them from).

Have a refurbished touchscreen monitor from Amazon, a refurbished iPad Pro from Apple, and a refurbished Wii U from Nintendo. No issues with any of them.

I've never had a problem when I stick to manufacturer refurbished and not some sketchy ebay offering. The only problems I've had with used/open/refurbished items has been Amazon Warehouse Deals

Pretty good. I try to buy consoles refurbished if I can. I try make sure that the condition is at least "good" or better.

Often depends on the company in my limited experience.

Refurbished apple, especially macbooks, are generally great.

Refurbished Nintendo is also usually pretty stellar

i always gave a side-eye to refurbished merch but i needed a cheap potentially throw-away laptop so i took a chance for 30 sawbucks. works good, mechanically sound, missing a screw however that makes the charge port a little wonky. big issue was about 4 months in, a hard crash (did not clear post) from a faulty memory module had me almost rma the thing. fortunately support had me swap positions between the dimm slots. fixed the issue. a week later, same thing, switched back to the original position, fixed the issue. i don't know if the memory is going to fail or the dimm slot on the motherboard but i'm crossing my fingers and banging on wood.

edit: forgot to add, i bought it off woot.com

I bought a refurbished WiiU, but when I received it the tablet didn't work so I had to send it back and wait a month. Was kinda annoying.

I like buying refurbished if I can. The only issue I've had is with a camera that would freeze up occasionally. Usually pulling the battery would fix it.

My Wii U was a refurb bought directly from Nintendo in 2015.

It's still works just fine.

To be fair its never been my main console, but its still seen plenty of use.

I loaned it to a friend who wanted to play Xenoblade Chronicles X, and his save game is over 1600 hours (yes, 1600). He's probably played the thing more then I have.

I have two dyson hot/cool fans that are refurbs and $300 under sticker price. Work great, one of the good buys ive had.

Really good. Got a 2015 15" Macbook Pro for about $700 off. It had 6 cycles on the battery and looked brand new.

I usually get a refurbished version of hardware if it's available, and I don't want the hardware as soon as it comes out. Never had any issues with this and it's so much cheaper. I live in Japan though, which is usually pretty good quality for pre-owned stuff.

Bought an Epson 2040 from their website and i have had no issues at all. Saved about $300-$400 of what the projector normally costs, and it is still covered by a 2 year warranty from Epson.

Can't recommend them enough especially if you are looking for a short term solution until 4K projectors become affordable.

All the refurbished (by the original manufacturer) products I've bought have been indistinguishable from new. 2DS, router, memory cards, PS4...

I always buy used iPhones -- never had a problem with any of them.

I always buy refurbished Dell desktop PCs. The always run without any problem, and come with a 1 year warranty (which can be extended to 3 years).

Refurbished iPad Mini 2, with a little dent on the back and weirdly behaving physical rotation lock button, but functional.

Refurbished Pebble Steel, acting up after 2 years, but does the job.

Refurbished Macbook Pro 13'' 2014, working perfectly!

One man's trash is another man's treasure 😎

I just got my refurbished New 3DS last Friday and it's awesome, you wouldn't know it was used or refurbished unless I told you. I was a little worried at first but I read Nintendo does a great job refurbishing their products and I'm happy to say that's the case.

I bought all my last gen systems used off craigslist as well, they weren't refurbished obviously, but they were all in great condition and haven't given me any issues.

I only buy refurbs on apple products unless there is a steep sale.

They are indistinguishable from new. Nintendo also sells great ones.

I have a refurb Canon T3i that I've been rocking for over 3 years now. We've been to like 8 countries and she's had a rough time doing so, always traveling in poorly protected places. She's still working fine.

I'm nervous about refurb phones. I usually want mine to last 2-3 years, and I know their hardware doesn't seem to last as long as most other tech products with normal use. I'm afraid that a refurb, since it's been used, won't last as long.

All other products, I'm totally OK with refurbs.

Refurbished iPad mini 4. Flawless in every way.

New housing, new battery. In my eyes the thing is brand new at that point.

I have had more units arrive defective when buying new than I have from buying refurb. May be luck of the draw and I haven't really bought that many refurb units, but so far so good. As long as they are under warranty, I don't worry about it too much.

Refurbished laptops are usually great, if you're getting them from a good seller.

I've bought or recommended dozens of refurbs for other people, and the failure rate is the same as new hardware, or lower.

Never had a single problem with a piece of refurbished electronics. actually scratch that, my refurb x360 had refurb controllers and those were bad. but the electronics themselves? great.

never buy a new ipad tbh. so many near-perfect used ones exist because dopes keep upgrading every year.

I love manufacturer refurbished items.
Seller refurbished items I just read as used.

I have a Canon 5D Mark II that I got refurbed, and a 24-105 f/4L, and they've been just like if I had bought them new.

I buy refurbs all the time, especially when it comes to computer related hardware. The only item that crapped out for me was an Onkyo AVR refurb that I bought for my spare room home theater. It was only a couple hundred bucks and it did last me 2+ years, so whatever.

Very good.

I bought a refurbished samsung monitor/tv like 8 or 9 years ago. Still works.

Bought a refurbished Asus monitor 4 or 5 years ago. Still works.

Bought a refurbished PS4 a couple years ago. Still works.

Bought a refurbished i7 7700k. Works fine.

The only time something hasn't worked out for me was when something was listed as "for parts" and for some reason I thought I could fix it.

My TV, my newest laptop, my PS3, several of the parts in my desktop, and even my rice cooker!

I can't recall ever having a problem even once, even if I get a bad egg at some point I'll probably continue to buy refurbished when I can. I feel bad for people who avoid it after getting burned once or twice.
