Hudson Soft goes for Playstation 3

Hudson chooses Playstation 3, says performance the deciding factor

The developer of Bomberman and Mario Party 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 emerged from Nintendo's torture chambers to announce that the company has joined the ranks of Sony's first-party developers working exclusively on the upcoming Playstation 3 console.

"Our creativity was stifled by the corporate hierarchy within Nintendo. We needed to find a development partner that sees technology the way we do, and the PS3 is the only machine capable of showing off our vision for the future. Sony has been very supportive in this transition. After seeing that Killzone demo, we knew our decision was correct", said a company representative.

The developer will begin development on "Ape Escape Jam!", the first in a series of family entertainment titles this Fall.

More as it develops.

:lol

damn Killzone and their prerendered graphics. sigh.

Midnight I think the important sentence is "Sony has been very supportive in this transition". And it will be great to see bomerman make use of PS3 power!!!

i think the in-game graphics will look like that when we play it.
next gen graphics will be awsome!

:D

It's been confirmed over and over again that it's NOT realtime. Get over it.

Actually, it's been confirmed to be running off of the in-game engine but, much like the Heavenly sword demonstration, was put together at an edited smooth framerate and 1080p 60fps refresh rate. Keeping that in mind, everything in there was scripted in-game graphics engine. This is not unlike the discussions of the Gran Turismo replay shots only Killzone was from a gameplay perspective.

BTW, asside from the Unreal 3 Engine running on CELL processor and a very early version of the RSX (from what I've heard it was hooked up to a MAC in order to stream the output... ). Some have stated that it was running on a SLI setup dual 6800 Ultra , but correct me if I am wrong but I thought NVidia had no SLI support for MACs... this would lead to a single pre Alpha stage of the RSX.

And people have got to stop saying XBOX 360 is the more powerfull of the two or it will just fuel the fire for the lesser powerfull one to pick 30fps over the favorable 60fps in order to minimize the gap and having reatched graphic potential like this, gameplay polish should be the primary objective.

Lets get 2 things straight;

1. It was CG.
2. The 360 GPU will indeed be better than the RSX.

No it wasn't. It was "targetted visuals" and was done by an external CG studio, who did all the art assets etc. Nothing to do with an ingame engine.

The absolute worst thing about having both NVidia and ATI in the game machines is all the fanatical fanboys on each side. One of the main reasons I can't stand PC gaming anymore. Now we get to have the NVidia and ATI fanboys argueing about consoles

Both graphical chipsets will be about the same power. Get over it.

You've had some say it was realtime and others say it was CG. It's clear who's going to take which side so we might as where end it at that.

No. One side MUST concede defeat!

The fanboys were there before those two jumped onto the console bandwagon. Fanboyism has been a problem since the 16-bit era, the difference is that it's worst because the stakes are higher. MS and Sony have huge goals for electronics and entertainment, so the competition and rhetoric has become bloodier.

It's just not realtime. It's not even an ingame engine. It is how they "envision" killzone on ps3 is going to look like. It has nothing to do with being a fanboy, it's just the facts, as have been reported by numerous sources. I can't believe people are still arguing over this..

Nice! F5 + HS on board for PS3. Too bad Denis Dyack gave in to the devils at M$.

It'd be nice if Retro also joined Sony but I guess that's to much to ask.

Does this mean that maybe... just maybe we'll see another Adventure Island? Because I'd really really like that. If Nintendo is bringing back "A Boy and His Blob" surely another Adventure Island is justified. :)

sony guys says it is realtime

as a nintendo guy i say its somewhere in between:)

As a Sony guy, I have to say it again. It's not realtime. I'm not speculating either. :P

Has noone even clicked on the link to see that it was posted by Speevy, with no source or anything? It's blatantly a joke, but seems some people fell for it anyway :lol

I guess it's not only Nintendo fans who want to...BELIEVE.

Hudson Soft Employee: I am so tired of Nintendo's corporate hierarchy. And the stifled creativity of working on the Mario Party series. And cash, ever-growing mounds of cash. *wipes sweat from brow, continues raking*

Looks like BS. Why would Hudson Soft be announcing anything? They went belly up and got bought out after much sucking (including a failed attempt to make a decent-looking PS2 game, which Sony rejected), so they don't have the power to make those decisions. And why would they jump to PS3 after that?

Well maybe he doesn't know that Speevy's dad works at Hudson. Can't blame him... it's kinda hard to read the entire thread before posting these days. :lol

42 whole posts prior to that one! That's a lot of reading, duckroll.
