Anyone else notice this? Harder to find the 480p option imo. Also a lower quality 288p added. I wish they would readd Hulu HD though

Yes, I noticed the change today, too. I found the 480p option pretty quickly, but it is in a new location without a text-based button, so it could be a little confusing.

I like everything about the change except the loading animation.

lower quality 288p? Obviously getting ready for an iPhone app megaton announcement

wait, I think the iPhone is higher than that

its fine. i set it to automatically use 480p in about 2 seconds.

i might hit pop out a few times before learning to stop

I dislike new site, i wished they used silverlight and get my tv shows in HD with out causing my puter to take a shit while the video loads.

Crap they're still using Flash. Ridiculous how I can't fullscreen hulu on my Athlon XP 2800+. Netflix which uses Silverlight performs fine.

This is horrible. It completely stops playback and takes you back to the start if you lose connection now. Which is terrible because I lose connection whenever the phone rings.

They've ruled out HTML5 for the foreseeable future:

An Aside on HTML5
Those are the highlights of our new player. Before we move on to the other updates to our site today, let me address a related topic that’s been in the news a lot recently: HTML5. Plenty of users and members of the press ask about this topic all the time.

When it comes to technology, our only guiding principle is to best serve the needs of all of our key customers: our viewers, our content partners who license programs to us, our advertisers, and each other. We continue to monitor developments on HTML5, but as of now it doesn’t yet meet all of our customers’ needs. Our player doesn’t just simply stream video, it must also secure the content, handle reporting for our advertisers, render the video using a high performance codec to ensure premium visual quality, communicate back with the server to determine how long to buffer and what bitrate to stream, and dozens of other things that aren’t necessarily visible to the end user. Not all video sites have these needs, but for our business these are all important and often contractual requirements.

That’s not to say these features won’t be added to HTML5 in the future (or be easier to implement). Technology is a fast-moving space and we’re constantly evaluating which tools will best allow us to fulfill our mission for as many of our customers as possible.

the video player is awesome.
To be honest I miss the old video player, the new one is a bit too simple for my taste (no more gradients, reflective type graphics etc. Though I love the new functions though.

Wish it looked more like this, for example the space taken up by that thick grey bar is so useless..

Oh but the fullscreen view is awesome I do admit. It shows everything from the time to the video res/buffer just on mouse hover.

Which is reasonable from their standpoint tbh, hopefully they'll find a way eventually. Until then, hello iPad Hulu.

The video tag would be nice to have but I understand why they do not want to use it: To protect the video from being downloaded and to provide their "customers" (aka advertisers) with some kind of info. However, they could generate this information based on the show a person is watching or through that tailor B.S.

I wish they would remove the Pop-up window icon because I always get it confused with the fullscreen button, which is small and in an awkward position. My only concern about the new fullscreen view is that my cursor does not disappear.

You'll get used to it, it does make sense to have those features outside of the player itself though. As for mouse not disappearing, must be a browser/computer thing, it does for me.

. Will have to use it some more to see if the functionality is on par with the old one.
I definitely think it is, if not better performance/speed wise. Perhaps the simplicity of the UI helped this in effect.

Agree with this. Netflix runs perfectly on my crappy netbook, but Hulu is unwatchable fullscreen.
