HyperDS (Nintendo DS Emulator) Officially Announced

Hmm this will be a good way for me to "test games" :p

But seriously, this really is the best way to test games, i bought many games i wouldnt normally buy because if visualboy advance.

For every one person that actually buys a game they pirate there's about 100 people who don't and about 10 people who download everything they can get their hands on even if they aren't going to play it, 'because they can'.

Those are collectors. Your reasoning for them collecting is wrong.

And how exactly are these people hurting anyone if they aren't going to play the games, much less buy them in the first place?

DS TEH IMPOSSIBLE INNOVATIVE OFTEN IMITATED NEVER DUPLICATED

I don't even know from where the idea came that the DS experience couldn't be perfectly replicated on PC w/ split screen and a mouse.

The guy who started this emulator isn't even attempting to utilize the dual-screen functions yet. He just wants to get the thing working.

Perfect? I know I can draw, and write, better with a stylus than a mouse.

I don't see how these games will play well and fluidly; as it is the DS is a bit clunky.

I don't see what's the problem. Left hand - Keybaord, Right Hand - Mouse. In fact I'd say it'd be even easier to play. :P

There's definitely more waiting and seeing to do, but the writing (heh) is on the wall...

Until someone comes out with a penmanship game, I don't think the mouse will hinder the gameplay of most games. In the case of games like MP Hunters, it will likely help significantly.

I do not fell like buying a touchscreen monitor for an emulator.
i think he means a drawing tablet and not a touchscreen monitor. although that would be not better and also not worse than using a mouse, as your still not directly touching the screen.

They have those for PCs too, ya know.... PEACE.
Coordination varies though, most people can't draw/write as well when not looking at the surface they're drawing/writing on. Tablets still wouldn't be the same as a touch screen.

it would be hot if he could code wi-fi support into this.

you get MP:Hunters running on a laptop and play against people with real DSs.

It'll be a novelty.

For me at least -- when I've toyed with Genesis, Snes, N64 and GBA emulation -- I've played things for a few days or weeks at most and then I get bored.

Nothing really replaces having a legitimate pad / handheld in your hands, the control interface the game was intended for, and being able to play it properly on your TV or in your hands with absolutely no compatability issues.

Don't get me wrong, if they get the emulator to a good level, lots of people will use it. I just don't think it will be as good as actually owning a Nintendo DS.

Xbox.

Yup! I was gonna mention it... don't wanna get into specifics cos we probably shouldn't talk this kinda stuff here - but yeah, it's good. Better than emulation on a PC at any rate.

I'll just say:

Mame stuff = hot
Other classic systems = good too
compatability = typically shit on N64 titles
Xbox pads = not as good as N64 / SNES pads for games on those systems.

I still prefer the original systems, and the original games, and where possible, original packaging. I don't think I'm any kind of collector / fetishist either. I just find the experience much better.

That's the nature of piracy. You can get any game "free" but your interest dies down faster since you can play any game you want

You have touch screens which work like tablets for PC. Like this one:

Just saying, as I also happen to think that emulating handheld device on a home console or a PC is kinda stupid for anything but testing games before the purchase.

However, DS emulated on a PDA is also a possibility, and that would make a lot more sense in terms of functionality.

You can build or buy pad adapters for the PC. I have DS2 adapter for a PC, and it works very well for PS1 emulation, and other console emulation too.

Piracy rocks.

I still buy the games that I was going to buy anyway but I've actually bought some games that I never thought I would have otherwise (e.g Wario Ware). There have been some rare times where because i had a pirated version, I did not buy the original but in those cases, it's cause the game sucked so i'm glad i got to play it first.

When it actually plays ROMs (and get it on PDAs) then its actually worth talking about. Right now its just a cool technological oddity.

awesome. let's hope this is robust by the time castlevania and advance wars come out.

lol

These two games are the only worthy games on NDS imo...it'd be funny if the emulator supports online play while Nintendo DS doesnt
