It’s hilarious.
The latest episode even had Chloe Bennett from Marvel’s Agents of Shield in it.
The shit the get away with on cable nowadays…
Highly recommende.

Watched the first season last week. If you like Atlanta then you should watch this. Everyday struggles and problems wrapped around an emerging rapper in both shows.

Very funny and honest about hilarious situations

Agreed. Hiro Murai has done a great job directing for both shows.

Edit: Actually I might be mistaken and Hiro Murai might have only done music videos for Dave. I thought I saw his name credited for some episodes this season but maybe I’m misremembering. Very similar directing style between both shows regardless.

Dave, Atlanta, Louie...talented comedians seem to have a knack for creating some of the most emotionally-resonate drama when they choose to.
Very well said. The only show finales I cry at are comedies. You see a real character arc in sitcoms that are done well.

Community is goofy as fuck but so endearing. Never got into MASH but it had the highest ratings for a TV show for decades until Super Bowls eclipsed it in viewership.

I was going to make the Atlanta comparison but thought I’d get laughed at.
The whole bipolar situation is so well done in this show.
And the funny shit I’m literally laughing my ass off at.

I was introduced to Dave because I am known to adore Atlanta. The two series only share a superficial connection with hip-hop. Dave is way more accessible than Atlanta because its more of a traditional comedy with a quirky white protagonist and frequent celebrity guests. Atlanta is a batshit fever dream that dissects social issues facing the black community which happens to also be hilarious. The constant comparison between the two makes me question how many people have actually watched them both; The guy who introduced the show to me only saw two episodes of Atlanta and to this date hasn't made it to season 2.

Ive been meaning to watch this as I'm a big fan of Bad Friends and Santino is apparently a main character on the show.

I actually got into this when I found out Santino was in it - he's one of the main cast but doesn't get a huge amount of screen time. Particularly in the second season.

Bummer man. I'm really not into rap these days. I still like classic hip hop, but I haven't enjoyed new hip hop other than J Cole, so is this more of a "rap" show or more of a comedy?

It’s not a rap show like at all. It’s a comedy. That involves some rapping.
