Windle Poons
Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Ten years in August. Long way to go yet.
Basically neogaf creation date.Jun 9, 2004 it says on my profile.
However I remember the furious debates around Sega GT2002 vs Gran Turismo 3 around the same year.![]()
Yeah, I was on the original GAF since '98-''99I think 26 years for me, if I remember correctly when this place started pre-neo.
There was a point in time it didn't even have UBB format yet and it was like old newsgroups with cascading links for each post and a convo would be like RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: ….Yeah, I was on the original GAF since '98-''99
huh you sure gaf was around in the 90's? i think it was early 00's.I think 26 years for me, if I remember correctly when this place started pre-neo.
It was. Other forums I went to were Next Generation magazine and Nintendorks. GameFAQs, Gamespot, and IGN were around but they were shit. I think GAF as its own hosted forum using UBB was 2000, but before that they had another host in the format of ye ancient internet. I just forget if it was 98 or 99 that it really started.huh you sure gaf was around in the 90's? i think it was early 00's.
I remember drooling over the Gran Turismo 2000 footage from E3 2000. But I might have been a lurker then.Basically neogaf creation date.
I might not be as active on NeoGAF as I used to be, but this place still means a lot to me. Back during my first year of college, I was a shy gamer without many people to talk to about the things I really loved…games, geeky stuff, even hiding my Pokémon cards like it was some big secret.
NeoGAF was a safe space where I could finally be myself and connect with people who got it. It honestly helped me through a time when I felt pretty alone.
Even now, logging back in brings a wave of nostalgia. I'm an old man married with FIVE BOYSAre any of the old heads from back then still around? Would be great to see some familiar names again.
