I watched the trailer and turning water into wine is literally a gameplay mechanic. It has mission goals on the HUD doing biblical shit, it's rather amazing.
I remember seeing this years and years ago and I remember the devs thanking me for wishing them well. I thought it was pretty funny and wasn''t sure if it would come out, but today there's a demo and a release date.
One thing about these religious games is that it can tend to unite stubborn people if they're good quality. The christians would normally be apprehensive about their savior blasting spells in a videogame, but seeing a positive portrayal would eventually usually 'turn' them especially if it's received positively by the mainstream. Atheists who normally troll christians would find it meme worthy and if its a good game, they'll talk about it positively. Basically, any group who speaks on it negatively (as they usually do to each other) would come off as a sour loser. It typically also reduces extremism 'our creator cannot be shown this silly' etc while keeping the vibe positive.
Now I want a badass Siddarath the Indian Prince game (Buddha).
I hope so but I'm not sure if that can be done even in this day and age where you can't really stop the internet from saying what you don't like. The devs would have to live in constant fear even if its a positive portrayal and it wouldn't just be threats.
