We are just weeks away from the best show in the history of all television to begin its 4th season. Wow, I can't even put into words my love for this show, it's all I think about during weeks leading up to a new episode. I am attatched to the characters!

The main promo is here

We know many characters won't be coming back, but based on another commercial I think Tony may be broken out of jail or something (wherever he is) to help Jack.

All speculation and thoughts on episodes should go here!

PS. Im going to be in Israel for most of this season, so does anyone know how I may be able to watch the shows? I'm probably going to download them all, but if someone knows that they'll be on TV there thad be awesome!

I think I'll lay out the standard protocol here in the hopes of cutting off the bickering:

If an episode has aired, it does not need to be spoiler-tagged. Speculation about what will happen, provided it is not based on spoiler information, does not need to be spoiler tagged.

Only information relating to the previews for the next episode, and spoiler information from the internet needs to be spoiler tagged.

Get it? Got it? Good.

This has been a Jack Bauer Power Hour Public Service Announcement.

I think people should just put a lil warning, I mean... it takes 2 secs to warn, but it could ruin the show for someone else. So be curteous, if you're making a comment on an event that occured in the story, warn us, but dont do the black text thing.

PS. Sorry for people who havent finished 3, I figured you did

Did I miss where this was put to a vote? IIRC, Season 1 & 2 discussion theads had no such rules. If you didn't see the latest ep, stay out of the thread. And I don't remember us having to spoiler tag tv previews. That's bullshit IMO. Only last season do I remember this anal-retentive bullshit coming up. The previews air a million times a day. Can we not discuss the preview for the 4-hour season premiere? That's a tv preview that's been aired a million times, especially during football games.

IMO, the rules for Season 4 threads should be put to a vote. I stayed out of last years threads after a while b/c most of the enjoyment of the season is speculation on the upcoming plot turns, and that includes using the info we're given (previews). If the consensus is that the previews are still off bounds, I'll just avoid this season's threads too. But I doubt I'm the only one who's tired of having to avoid discussion of the previews, b/c unless you never watch any FOX stations, you're gonna catch a 24 commercial and see the "spoilers". The previews aren't even spoilers since they usually edit them to look one way when it's another. Anyway, that's my rant. Where's CrimsonSkies to cry like a bitch about it? :p PEACE.

Hey, check it out! It's the traditional bitching about spoiler rules post!

This is the official 24 thread! Wow!

You can always discuss spoilers or speculation, just use spoiler tags. Easy as that.
[ spoiler ] Whatever. [ /spoiler ]

All you've got to do is remove the spaces.

See?

For newcomers, the problems emerged last year when someone posted "speculation" which turned out to be the latest report from a spoiler site. Someone else called the poster out on that, and the next few plot twists were ruined for everyone who read the thread.

It went kinda like...

Someone: This will happen! And this!
A bunch of people: You're crazy!
Someone else: You've been reading Ryan's Report!
Someone: ...yea.
A bunch of people: You fuck!

So how about leaving the spoiler site stuff out and that's it. God, we went through the two best and probably most dramatic and complex seasons without this stupid rule. Why do we need it b/c of a few pricks? I'm only arguing this b/c I love discussing this show, but I'm particularly tired of the whinging about spoilers. What did we do on the internet prior to UBB code and spoiler tags? God knows there couldn't have been SPOILERS during the usenet days. O_O PEACE.

EDIT: I don't want to derail the thread, so this is my last post in it. I'll wait to see what everyone else thinks about the rules.

To me, it just seems like you're bitching about having your text encased in black blocks. Prior to all of this, I seem to remember giant SPOILER WARNINGS and then there'd be a bunch of space, then text, more space, then a /SPOILER and that was that.

Personally, I don't care much about speculation, but last year really pissed me off. Seeing as how humanity has proven itself ineligible of trust, it's the safer route to ask that you spoiler tag things.

FOX sucks with previews, too. I don't watch them, often because they give away the last few moments of the next episode, and I feel cheated when I'm sitting through an hour of filler only to face the same cliffhanger displayed during last week's preview.

Why are peole bitching about rules about having spoiler warnings? Come on, I like to read these threads without fear of ruining the next episode, and I for one take no issue with this rule.

Alright, this is what we're doing... its no hassel, just tag the shit. There's no way to control douchebags, but we'll have to have an honor system

I have that, but refuse to watch it. No point in watching it really....24 minutes is too much. I watched the teaser though

It's supposed to be commercial free. They'll probably do what they've done in the past and have a 5 min commercial at the beginning.

The only episode I have seen 'live' was the finale of season 3. I watched Season 1, 2 and 3 consecutively leading up to that episode. The commercial breaks in that episode broke the flow, imo, worse than the loading in HL2. A show like 24 should not have any breaks, at all.

I think it's an excellent way to build tension. Same thing with having to wait a week between episodes.

I was just about to post this. When I watched the DVDs it wasnt as enjoyable, there's just something about sitting there with my family being like OMFG during commercials, it lets the whole thing sink it. When you hear those doo doo doo doos, you know something big just went down!

I've seen the first 27 minutes of the new season.
A lot of new faces (in a good way) and it starts with a bang!
Can't wait to see the rest. Only 7 days left....

do we know if its commercial free or not?

I had heard earlier that the first episode (yes the entire 2 hours) is commercial free. I've searched on the net and haven't found anything conclusive. I hope it is, that's been the 24 tradition, hasn't it? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

well, the 27 minute preview of this season does have a commercial break, where time skips forward a good 6-7 minutes. Unless they add more show into it, I think it has commercials

I downloaded the "first 24 minutes" preview last night and I finally have some time to watch it.

EDIT:

Someone explain to me
the red code that was "corrupting the Internet."
All I know how to do with the Internet is post, browse, and download. :)

There's a lot more: servers, ip-numbers, nodes, routers, switches, HTTP, TCP, DDoS-attacks etc. etc. A normal Internet user only sees the Internet through his browser.

Dammit! Can't wait to see it!

I can't wait for this season to start.

The last couple of days I've been reading newspaper reviews of the first 4 hours (w/ just a minimal amount spoilers that are of a minor nature) and almost all of them are extremely positive, saying that the action/suspense is really excellent and that the casting shake up is refreshing (I agree w/ the point that some of them made about season 3 being pretty stale).

It's funny, just 4-5 days ago I wasn't really anticipating the season, I was only like "OK, 24's about to start airing again, cool."

Anyway, 24 Season 4's just 60 hours away!! Woo!!!

I cannot wait for this. But this will be my last post in any 24-related thread, because my friends and I resolved to watch 24 a little differently this time... in 24 hours. The weekend after the season concludes, we're going to start at 7am and watch everything in one go, pausing during the breaks to let real-time catch up to 24-time (and allowing us a minute or two to pee, crap, or eat). I'm going to miss the weekly madness and speculation, but this'll be fun. I think.

You gotta download it off the Internet (IRC or bittorrent are the preferred options).

EDIT: You're talking about the first 24 minutes, right?
