review:
My order: 6 white castles with double mustard and pickle, 1 jalapeno cheeseburger.
Price: $3.37
I couldn't wait to get home to taste those cute little hamburger creations, so I quickly opened the sack and ate the cheeseburger while leaving the parking lot. It was just the right temperature, and the cheese gave off the right amount of 'heat'. The jalapeno flavoring in the cheese melds with the onions and meat quite well.
Once I reached my apartment 2 minutes away, I quickly poured myself a glass of Dr. Pepper and placed the remaining six burgers on a paper plate (to avoid further dishwashing.) I checked, and most had just the right amount of mustard. Two had just a little too much, and it caused the bun to slide around a bit.
As I began eating the burgers, I noticed that the pickles were nice and crisp, while the onions were relatively limp, a consequence of the steam grilling. I should note though, that the onions did not lose their flavor and tasted wonderful. The meat itself was nicely flavored, and slightly salty due to the seasoning used during the grilling process. Buns were of the usual White Castle high-quality variety and were nice and warm as they are also steamed.
I did notice however, that as I reached the end of my meal, the last few burgers went down with a little more difficulty. This could have been due to either the cooling off process, or because I have burned myself out over the past 25 years I have been eating at the fine White Castle establishments, occasionally as many as five times per week. This may have caused me to enjoy my meal slightly less than I would have otherwise.
All scores are based on a 'total quality of food' scale. White Castle and Nobu would not be rated differently based upon the type of establishment and expected clientele. Keep in mind that a score of 5.0 is average, and a 10.0 is of the highest quality, and thus extremely rare.
