I was browsing Sam Goody yesterday, no real intention to buy anything.

I saw the the Phantom Menace collectors edition in the huge box, new and unwrapped for 3.99. Never saw the movie but I'll probably watch it later.

Surprising since Sam Goody is usually ballbustingly more expensive than other places.

Wow, good deal, even if you don't end up liking the movie.

I bought the Episode I/II Double Pack in Japan for around $40...

But the collector's edition is VHS.

Anyways, if you care about audio this is the only way to watch TPM (the track on the LD blows away the DVD):

It's also the original theatrical cut, which the DVD isn't.

Just the fact that it is the original theatrical cut makes it superior. Lucas went insane and decided to make the shitty Pod race about 10 hours long on the dvd version.

I really wish that some directors would just give consumers what they want with another version. :(

So we can get the usual GAF crowd who bitches about multiple versions of DVD's? No thanks... a great middle ground is the DVD that simply feature the theatrical and director's cuts...

They don't have to do multiple versions of the DVD. This is what branching chapters were made for. There's like 3 different cuts of Terminator 2 on one disc.

Lucas is just a jackass who only wants his hacked up versions available to the public.

Man, the pod race was about 2-3 times too long for my tastes in the theatre...

This news displeases me and makes me reconsider my idea to rent the prequels as a refresher before going to see Revenge of the Sith.
