I have to go for a mammogram next week.

Found a sizable lump behind the left nip last week. There's also swelling and some pain. My wife double checked for me and my doctor triple checked on Tuesday. The mammogram booked for next week. Follow up doctors appointment the week after that.

Cancer is of course the worst case scenario and I won't really know until I go for a biopsy, which I assume will happen after the doctors appointment.

I have done a little reading, and we'll...

Probably best to stop reading and wait for the tests to happen. Even if it's not cancer it's not exactly good either.

I am understandably quite concerned.

That’s understandable to be concerned. It’s a pretty scary situation to be in so it’s a natural reaction. But the “good” thing about breast cancer being one of the most common forms is it’s also one of the most understood and treatable ones.

A friend of mine recently went through cancer treatment and got the all clear. So please keep in mind that it being cancer might be the worst case scenario but that doesn’t have to mean that’s it for you. Plenty of people get diagnosed with cancer and go on to live full and healthy lives afterwards.

If you ever need anyone to talk to about it then GAF is here for you. The handy thing about a global user base like we have here is there’s pretty much always going to be someone around no matter what time it is.

I think you mean a manogram.

I hope it is nothing and it solved quickly.

I had cancer 15 years ago, stop reading things on the internet and just concentrate on one thing at a time. A lot depends on the type of cancer and how advanced the stage is, you cannot put them all together.

Yup, my grandpa was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer but the good news is it was found early enough to be treatable. Chemo is gonna suck but we’re expecting a full recovery afterwards

Yeah, stop reading things online. I've been there myself. It wasn't cancer or anything at all, but basically everything online made me think this was it.

It wasn't. And it isn't for you. Your upcoming appointments are nothing but the first steps in making you feel better again.

Gaf's with you.

Sorry to hear that. Don’t be reading shit online. Get it checked and let us know!

I have actually had a pain around my right nipple for a while now. It has got a little better recently but it was really sore when I was in bed and turning or trying to push myself up out of bed. I can’t seem to pin point exactly where the pain is and can’t feel any lumps but it’s strange.

Too be fair, this is possible breast cancer. Thanks to all the breast cancer awareness campaigns over the decades, I didn't really need to google anything except for male specific info.
I like having some information for myself so that I can ask better questions when I do see doctors.

In any regard, I do plan on not reading anything more on this subject.

Thank you all for the support.

Stay strong and keep us updated!

Also, thank you for posting this in the first place. Many people think breast cancer is something only women can get.

It's benign and you'll be fine. Lil snippy might occur but don't get yourself into a tizzy about it before you know.

I had my appointment this morning and it wasn't too bad. Squishing what little man-boobs I have between the plates was an experience, and I can totally see why the ladies complain but it wasn't too bad for me.

I've since gotten the report and while I still need to see the doctor, it give some good peace of mind that this isn't cancer.

Don't recognize you, but I hope the best for you.
