it's kinda a trip after playing a good amount of Cyberpunk 2077

lots of parallels. I mean for starters it has Keanu Reeves.

both deal with a brain implant that is slowly destroying your mind and will eventually end you.

both involve being hunted down because everyone wants the data in the chip in your brain.

both involve going to ripperdocs for help.

there are a good deal of parallels. also fun fact Johnny Mnemonic takes place in 2021 so it's the perfect time to watch it

give it a go it's pretty good. its on Hulu and Amazon I believe.

yes! the movie totally rules. feels like a early version of The Matrix.
it's pretty funny, I noticed that the attire was very similar especially in the opening scenes. then all of a sudden they started addressing Keanu by his alias, which is legit "Mr. Smith"

Fun movie indeed. The tech talk is laughable... but that's hollywood for you.

Plus the film features my man Beat Takeshi!

Are you telling me you don’t connect to the computer, hook up to VR, then use martial arts to defeat computer viruses?

I watched it for the first time last year also. That and Virtuosity. Both have campy ass CG but still enjoyable.

Yeah but Cyberpunk doesn't have Dolph Lundgren as a crazed assassin priest guy.

Entertaining as a sort of B movie though wasn't really that great or anything. Also was kinda neat seeing Demon City Shinjuku footage show up in a mainstream movie at the time. =P

I dunno.
I was already deep in Cyberpunk back then, playing TTRPGs with this theme and reading books.
I was quite disappointed by all the cheese in it.
The dolphins with the radars on their back were the nail in the coffin.

Plus Dolph Lundgren. LOL.

I loved that movie, probably the most corpo stuff of all the cyberpunk movies.

I would recommend also Dredd with Karl Urban for something that re-creates Night City.

I think I tried watching this back then and didn't like it, I notice it doesn't have much of a following. Am I missing out? Would def be fun to watch now because of Cyberpunk either way.
