Does the Nintendo DS play Gameboy Advance titles? I always thought I heard people saying it would....but then I heard Nintendo themselves say that the DS is not a next gen gameboy. Somebody please help me out here.

My friend really wanted to know because he uses a mod cart(or whatever that is) for his GBA and wanted to know if the system was backwards compatible.
