You really think I need a higher watt PSU? Full spec is 2500k, asus gtx 580, 8gb ram, ocz vertex 3. I do not plan on sli and even if I did I'm guessimg 750W still wont be enough for 2x gtx 580's?

650W is plenty for a single GPU setup.

True on both accounts (although i think 750w is enough for SLI, could be wrong), as i said i was mentioning jus for future-proofing, im not saying you'll need it im just saying you might appreciate the extra voltage in the future, having some ground to not re-build your entire PC each time you wanna upgrade is nice.

Then of course, if youre on the budget on building your whole rig etc, you'll be super fine with that one.

God, shopping for monitors is such a chore. It comes down to PQ or input-lag, where the latter is about half the price (generally) so it makes you feel like you're getting a rotten deal quality-wise. And even if I go for PQ it won't be as good as my CRT, I wish I had enough room to just keep it.

I'd recommend adding a second front intake. If it's a reference Asus 580, one additional fan should be ok. If it's a Direct CU II model, I'd consider placing the stock front intake as a top exhaust, and then add two good, inexpensive fans as front intakes. For instance, a pair of high speed Yate Loons (run off the stock fan controller, so you can silence them whenever you want to), should do the trick.

Inexpensive 120s with good airflow: Yate Loon, Nexus, Scythe Kama Flow II, Thermalright X-Silent, Enermax T.B. Silence, Zaward Golfs

Well, just put together a computer for the first time. Actually wasn't too hard after watching that tested video. Only annoying parts were getting the board to line up with the IO shield and the damn tabs and cable management. I have no idea where/how to even hide the cables on this Antec 300.

Anyways, just went for a low-budget build.

My Struggle: I want to build a machine, for a while I was going to settle with a M11X (Alienware) hoping I could play a few comming MMO's (Tera Online, PSO2) but I thought about some other games I might want to play. I used to be into PC gaming, but got out of the race since it was so expencive (grade school) now that I'm working full time as a Data Analyst I need a machine that I can use to practice with different programs such as SQL or Access, and I also want to do programing. I also want to have a computer where I can have an old school arcade setup and I want to buy Super Street Fighter AE for PC, with some sticks. Also Id like to do some PS2 Emulation as I have a grip of old PS2 games and I don't want to hook my PS2 up to a HD TV... ehhh..

I want to be able to hook my PC to a HD TV and not a monitor, and sit it in my room next to my PS360Wii Set up. I wanted to ask, the HDMI out on a PC, is that part of the graphics card? And what happens when you have two graphics cards?


Looking to spend no more then 3000... I was looking at some machines on IBuypower.com and I was thinking a machine with the nvidia graphics card GTX 580, but to have a mother board which could fit 2 or 3 of them... Would I have to worry about overheating? What sort of PC shells/cases are bad to use?



I was thinking of going with an i7 not sure what type of ram is the best either...

i have the same case and mine looks pretty similiar. i could take a pic if you want i guess. nowhere to put the cables really except there's a lil part on the opposite side of the way the pic is taken that i stuffed some cables in but mine prettty much looks the same.

the case is still pretty cool even if the wires aren't managed perfectly.

I'm a bit baffled here. My computer has 4 SATA ports, and the chipset (Q67 Express) says it can support 2 SATA 3 ports. Does that mean it figures out which are 3 automatically, or is it statically set? I see no labels on the motherboard indicating what's what - I'm on the supplier, and even they seem a bit perplexed.

I'll just further confuse you by throwing my hat in for the Corsair Obsidian 650D. I absolutely love this case. Cable management is great, it has a ton of great features like included fan controller, tons of front ports, easy mounting hard drive bays, etc.

It's cool, quiet and very roomy. I had no issues in my build at all (except the lack of a USB 3.0 header for the front).

In case you're on the fence, I say do it. The already ridiculous prices that Microcenter charges for the 2500/2600k plus the current $40 off combo deal they're running means a pretty insane savings.

Those are fine. You didn't mention which type of Asus 580 you had. Try what I mentioned earlier, based on which card it is.

Yup. Mechanical is the hotness. Filco, Steelseries, Razer Blackwidow, or Wasdkeyboards. You want cherry mx blacks/browns for gaming, blue for typing.

You mean this one, right? Sounds good, but apparently if needs software to work. Does that mean that it won't work when I'm setting up my PC for the first time (like installing Windows)? Would I need to use a different keyboard to get everything up and running, or will this one just work?
