Is there ANYTHING I can do to make my NPCs smarter? I mean, SHIT! They're so fuking dumb they'll walk back and forth through a forcefield until they end up turning into a pile of ashes. Jebus! WTF is up this this horrible AI? I mean, you can't go through the game with just your character so you have to rely on your NPCs but what good are they if they keep KILLING THEMSELVES??! ARRGHH!

And secondly, is there anyway to change the armor of my NPCs? I mean, they might be more helpful in a fight if they can take more than two hits.

Oh yeah, is Fallout2 more of this same bad AI crap?

-Thanks

I can't remember how the AI is in Fallout 2, but I remember being completely addicted to it as well as Fallout Tactics. I can remember the AI being better in Tactics though.

lollers.

giving armour = upgrade

I've never had a problem with the AI. But :lol

Fallout 2 has a combat control screen where you can tell them to use the best armour and best weapon in their possession and set their behaviou. You can use the trade screen to give them whatever equipment you want and you can also tell them to unequip themselves. It's clunky, but it suffices.

Bah? Upgrade? What does that mean? I put trade the armor to them but they never wear it. While talking there's only the "use best weapon" or "put weapon away" depending on the character. Baldur's Gate's interface would have been better cuz it's too damn clunky. =(

Yeah, in Fallout 2 you can organize their armor and weapons and whatnot.

Stop being weaksauce. You can't control them, but you can use their actions to your advantage.

they do wear it but you can't tell. Been a while. Maybe you should download the patch before you play Fallout 1 +2 :)

You can't give your NPCs new armor in Fallout. Not that I can remember, at least. I'm pretty sure that was just something added for the sequel.

Fly solo in the first game anyway, it's more fun that way. Nobody to bitch if you accidentally shoot them in the ass because they stood in front of you.

Playing Fallout without Dogmeat is not playing Fallout at all.

Oh come on, Dogmeat doesn't count. I'm talking about people here. They tend to die, and there ain't no coming back from death in Fallout. It's much more humane to just let them stay where they are.
