I no longer find Velvet Revolver as loathsome as I once did

I still don't care much for the album as a whole, but individual songs like "Illegal i Song" and "Big Machine" have really grown on me. Such is life, I guess - I was hoping for another home run collaboration like the Audioslave group, but that would be greedy on my part...

Anyways, congratulations to VR for not pissing me off as much as they used to. Kudos.

It's a lyrically terrible album. I wish there was a word that went beyond "terrible"...I'd use that instead. I mean, seriously...it's just so bad. But the guitars and the drumming frigin' rocks, though!

Haha, not really, but whatever. He doesn't right the most complicated stuff anyways -- a good chunk of his soloing is playing in one box (especially on the VR record).

Pretty soon alpha's gonna be like "DUDES, Hendrix wasn't that great of a guitarist. I sat down for a few weekends and figured all of his shit out. It's easy!"

:lol

Diablo, he doesnt have time to sit down, he's always out enjoying the nightlife. Only once in a while he has to stay home, and that usually end up in a thread! :D

Uhh...no. But, like...I call them as I see them. I can do Slash's stuff, because IT IS easy. I can't do Corgan/Iha. I can do some Hammett/Hetfield. Can't touch Adrian Smith. I can do some Angus Young. Can't touch Malmsteen, Vai, or Plant.

But I don't even know why I'm telling you this. I already know from long ago on IRC that you don't know a thing about instruments.

Edit: Shuri: I play during the day when nobody's home. Tonight is the first time in a long time I'm home. (Jewish holiday. Can't go anywhere.)

Who cares what I do or don't know? It's about you and how you play your instrument. I don't need to know everything about a guitar to know one guy plays it better/worse than another.

So you can do Angus Young and Metallica but not Corgan/Iha? ::scratches head::
You should try playing the demo STP by the Pumpkins. Its so simplistic but awesome.

Yep. And it ain't just me. I know a lot of people who can't play Pumpkins solos because of how far out they are. They're not like any other rock solos -- their pattens are crazy and not very typical. Where as AC/DC and Metallica stuff is all pretty straightforward stuff. All played in one box-like figure on the fret board. Pumpkins solos are quite literally played all over the fret board. Far too intense.

Like Geek USA and Starla?

SP is a great live band but a studio band at heart... some of their crap you can't even do live. Starla has like three solos going at once. :D Then again, I've heard live versions of Geek (Lost '94 Tapes) and Starla (some bootleg) that are just as crazy in their own right. One version of Starla just has this crazy, tripped out soloing. This other one has this dude playing a violin thru an amp with a bunch of guitar pedals I'm guessing (can you do that)? It's fuckin' unreal.

Weiland's always like "Yeah here comes the water." Maybe one of these times a fucking tidal wave will come and knock him on his ass.

Especially Geek USA. FMT and I still don't quite understand that solo. At least I'm pretty sure it was that solo. Hrmm...it could've been another song, but GeekUSA seems to be the one popping up.

And that dancing...seriously, sometimes I was embarassed to be a big STP fan. Always afraid somebody would say "lollers, he dances like a flamer!"

STP fell out love with me when both times they were supposed to come up here for a concert it got cancelled because *big shocker* Weiland had to go to rehab yet again.

Haha, I know.

You ever watch the Lost '94 tapes. B0lly's solo is even more crazy than the studio version IMO. Looks freaking impossible to play.

Since when did you start hanging out with FMT (and his hot girlfriend)? Bastard.

Hahaha. I met up with him when I was in LA. And I spoke to his GF very briefly on the phone. She's pretty kick ass...lousy with directions though. Hahaha, she gave us directions that ended our sorry asses up in da ghetto.

Velvet revolver blows, go listen to it again, it's clear as day. Audio Slave dosen't suck as much as they probably should, but they are boring as fuck, and boring is a variety of suck.

Who the hell is B0lly?

Heh, I think Audioslave is pretty awesome (probably because I worship Cornell), but Velvet Revolver is disappointingly bad. Only a handful of decent songs on the album.

Oh please :lol
Why is that so hard to believe? I've only been playing guitar for 6 months and I can play lots of simple stuff that Slash does, and to be honest it doesn't seem that far out of reach for me to play any other slash material, I just need lots more practice and experience and i'll be able to play anything no problem.

I saw them live, but the show was just boring. The songs are all the same too, ofcourse every one has the obligatory Slash solo in it, it just feels too manufactured.
