Everytime I upgrade my pc something goes wrong and this time it is no different.

Still I have learn't something make sure everything fits before u start. Little did I know that my power supply wouldn't work with a 64bit pci-e motherboard. And here was me thinking I was going to do it on the cheap :lol Guess not.

So now I must buy another power supply and no doubt something will explode once I finally set it up and turn it on.

*find out about 20 pin to 24pin adapters*

*buys one*

*finds out it might not work because the extra 4 pins apparently are for the pci-e slot which wudn't matter but the x800xl gets all its power from the slot*

ohh joy!

a lot of newer motherboards will still support a 20pin powersupply. Look for a 4 pin power connector on your motherboard that looks just like the one on your cd rom drive. you would then plug a 4 pin connector into that and the 20 pin connector where it would normally go (with the exception that you are leaving the 4 pins at the end out in the open).
