Pre 8 bit era single screen games aged like wet dogshit.

And tbh 16 bit was the era shit started to be real good.

That.... was a great game back in 1984

I was wondering how long it would take for GAF to recognize the original. Kudos 👏

I Robot was a breakthrough experiment with "3D" graphics, alongside the Star Wars arcade game and Battlezone. It also was an innovator in audio, character focus, minigame structure, and other aspects. Not many people have played it (it was not a hit, it did not have a popular franchise tie like Star Wars or even the Star Trek arcade game, it's hard, and IMO its only sometimes fun to play, ) but it's historically important.

It's also a good game to do a retro remake of... although the OP could have given more of a heads up in the headline that this isn't what most people might expect.

Reminds me of Tempest 2000. Even down to the techno soundtrack.

Yep. Same designer, Jeff Mintner.

Was reading about this literally hours ago.
Can't wait to play Jeff Minters spin on this!
He's expressed a desire to do a sequel to Space Giraffe too, let's hope that's coming next!
Awesome!

I tried playing the first one on MAME and it didn't make a lick of sense.

It was amazing how good Atari got the graphics on those custom cabinets back then though.

"First polygon" game is apt though, because it's incomprehensible like a 3DO or early PSX game.

Suprised I've never seen or heard of this game given my history and love for arcade games.

5 seconds into the gameplay, and I knew it was going to be another Jeff Minter remake. No, I haven't followed any development on it, or knew about it. But the game has Jeff Minters visualization all over it. Not saying that is a bad thing. Looks kinda cool.
