My dream took place at E3 2020.
It all happened during the Square Enix presentation.
There was a nice trailer showing in-game footage of Aya Brea navigating Central Park in a reimagining of the first Parasite Eve. It went for about 4 minutes, covering her basic powers and gunplay during several enemy encounters. The video ended with a short CGI segment showing the original rat mutation video but completely remade with modern technologies. The game was advertised as a new AAA Luminous engine-powered open world RPG survival horror which serves as a reimagining of the original PE that came out in 1998, and is partially inspired by the RE2make's success.
The trailer confirmed that the soundtrack would be a collaboration between Yoko Shimomura and Keiichi Okabe.
At the end of the trailer, it was revealed that the game would be directed by Yoko Taro himself, who (in his usual sarcastic tone) showed on stage in his Emil mask and explained that he's fed up with NieR and Drakengard and wants to try something new. Square offered to hand him the PE IP and he accepted.
Square also said that the new Parasite Eve would be a PS5 launch title with a simultaneous PC port releasing on Steam.
Hopefully I got you hyped about this, as now it's the time to remind you that this was just a dream and the game will never be made.
