There are two things from Firefox that I cant figure out in Safari.

How do I make it so that double clicking the tab bar creates a new empty tab?

How do I get a bookmarks sidebar as opposed to a toolbar?

apple-T works for me

You have to go to advanced options first and then tick the box saying "enable tabbed browsing". After that you can use Apple + T. I prefer Camino myself.

With camino there was no sidebar for bookmarks, a huge problem for me

General preferences > open links from applications in a new tab

I used Safari/Camino/other various browsers builds for about a month....

I had some of the same problems you have had.....

I just went back to Firefox. Its still a great browser and will be much better once 3.0 is released early next year.

Also, what no one's mentioning is that once you have tabs enabled, you just have to hold Apple+Click to open a link in a new tab.

Unfortunately, there are still times when Safari will open a link in a new window instead of a tab. It's pretty annoying.

That's one of the reasons that I'm such a fan of Opera - you can have it so that pretty much everything comes up as a new tab, even the downloads window.

Right-clicking.

(If you really are stuck with a touchpad or a one-button mouse, Ctrl+click also works.)
