Ideas you might have for a 'Return Fire DS'

It struck me recently when I snagged a used copy of 'Return Fire' for the Playstation, that it would make a great app for the DS.

I still have memories of runnin' the flag back to the base in that little Hummer as my friend would try fruitlessly to blow up the bridge ... and those victorious times you made it back to the base floating the Hummer on sea, only by the time you bought mining your buddies base.

As an introductory title to take the DS online, RF would be awesome. Still keeping in simplicity, but expanding, maybe you could use the touch-screen to dart from base to base and man turrets ... or call in air strikes on the map?
or as down time from driving, you could manage/repair units back at base ... buy more defenses?

4 on 4 capture the flag battles, or seige battles where two people on your team manage/build the base 'Rampart' style in-between spawning ... as the other 2 take to the skies in hellicopters mowing the enemy defenses down, using the touch-screen for misile lock-ons or radar jammin'

hehe, using the touch screen to 'Hack' (Sly Cooper Style) into the enemy Flag-Quarters for access.

am I alone here?

Used to play a demo of RF on my PC, years ago, back at university.

We used to call it 'Shooty-shooty bang-bang' ^_^

Good stuff, but there's probably many such games, for any system out there, that shoulda, woulda, or coulda, but which never will ...

Goddamit, there is some old ass Atari arcade game that I can't remember the name of (it was two player and it had two people running through mazes and shooting each other) and that game would make a great NDS multiplayer game. The end.

PS I am drunk.

No, not at all. Return Fire is an excellent game! I'd surely like to see a remake of that game for any of the current systems. This game would work well as an online game.

A handheld rendition Return Fire would also be ace--not only on the DS, but also on the PSP, or even the GBA. I think the original developers of this game have done a GBA game or two (sadly not this one, though).

Glad to see I'm not entirely alone here, that game was just one of the most ballanced I've ever played.

Has lots of potential to really frustrate your oponent.

EDIT: and no I don't mean a remake of the crap-tastic sequal for the PC, the real one that originated on the 3DO

wow, thank god you were talking about the 3D0 version. The sequel was crap.

The 3D0 version was nice and heavy metal. Really had a sense of weight behind the vehicles. And who can forget the ride of the valkyries :)

Returnfire and Space Hulk were both fantastic 3D0 games.

return fire on the 3DO was awesome! and it was also a whole lot better on 3DO than it was on the playstation.

we used to have awesome matched on the 3DO though, sooo fun hiding butt bombs in shrubs and stuff hehe

Team Fortress DS. With bottom screen used for map & activating units for the 'commander mode' in 16 player wi-fi sessions.

Yes remember 'commander' mode Valve?

Infact remember TF2 at all Valve?
