IGN Editor Ivan says - Not much for 360 this year.

Of course Madden PS2 is gonna outsell Madden x360. That's a no brainer.

But Madden x360 IS gonna sell systems.

Don't forget about Quake 4 or The Godfather (which is gonna be huge IMHO).

The big 4 (EA, Activision, THQ, Take Two) are supporting the x360 launch, and cosindering the investment they made into next-gen games, they will advertise heavily to sell the next-gen games. I don't see how anyone can view this lineup as a weak lineup..
For me I'll probably get CoD2, GR3, PGR3 and Kameo and maybe Condemned and Quake 4. Seriously there are so many games I want from that launch lineup.

Peter Moore said there are 160+ games for Xbox 360 in development and he never saw more than 30 games in development for Dreamcast at one time.. You do the math.

So the guy who wrote the original article says he is only looking forward to two games and nothing else is coming till 2006. How can you possibly judge a launch based on some random guys taste in games which apparently isnt very good looking at the two titles he picked out. Why is this being argued, from the titles allready announced for the launch window no other console launch even compares.

I think most of you are simply missing the point, it's not ONE killer title that will push the 360. It's a host of killer titles that will sell the 360 at launch plus the draw of the newest and most powerful hardware available. Nobody usually buys a console for just one game, they buy a console when they see a few titles they really want to play. By the time PS3 hits the 360 will already have a healthy dose of first gen titles under it's belt while the PS3 will just be debuting.

It's gonna be reeeally interesting
to see whether there is an announcement regarding GTA4 between now and November.

Nothing else matters, really.

Just curious - in what way?

Hahaha. Acutally, I do know the future of GTA franchise - I'm just curious about his expectations.;)

Ah yes, the whole "anyone expecting GTA: Next to be on Xbox360 first is craz-o!" :D

No Renderware this time. :D
Yes it's an incredible stretch but I'd love to know what engine they're using. If possible can you say if it's a major third party engine or are they are using their own in-house solution?

Thanks Izzy. <3

Can't fucking wait, I have tons of faith in those guys. They must have learned quite a bit from the Renderware engine and their constant optimization routines they've done over the years.

Hey baby. *kiss kiss*

I'm more interested in Japanese 360 launch lineup, with Sakaguchi's rpgs and Mizuguchi game still some time away, FFXI probably still in beta stage by then, wonder what the killer apps will be? DOA4 alone won't do much. eM, Chrome Hounds and Frame City might end up being good but won't attract that much attention either, what else is there, PGR3 and western games? The lineup atm looks even weaker than Xbox's one back in 2002.

For a console launching in North America, the Xbox 360 launch lineup will easily be head and shoulders above any launch lineup before it and it *will* make the majority of gamers sit up and pay attention (I'm talking in terms of sheer quality and quantity of games, even if there isn't 1 standout game). Did the PS2 have a must have launch title?

A month before launch you're going to have mags and online sites putting out lots and lots of favorable reviews and impressions of the dozens of launch games that will be available for the 360. If you think Microsoft and it's publishers marketing 360 marketing blitz and all the media coverage of its launch won't cause one of the biggest stirs ever, then get ready to be surprised :) Launch or close to launch:

For Sports Fans? Next-gen versions of Madden, Golf, Hockey, NBA, Soccer, and Tennis in the pipes for 360

For Racing Fans? PGR3, Need for Speed: MW, Full Auto, Test Drive, Burnout Revenge, and Rallisport

Halo/FPS Fans? PD0, Condemned, Ghost Recon 3, Call of Duty 2, Quake IV

For the Rest? Oblivion, Kameo, DOA4, etc.

Microsoft PR guy told me he was sure they were going to release 25 games at launch. I was like WTF but he was a 100% sure about it. PR guys suck.

I thought Oblivion was always planned for 2006?

I think MS' launch depends almost entirely on how PD0 really turns out at this point, with it looking and playing great they have an easy repeat of Halo on their hands (only better because of Live out of the box this time) without it all the really have thats gonna wow people is PGR3 and maybe GR3 (Theres a lot of stuff that'll sell, but not a lot that'll sell the system), i doubt that'll be enough to get the universal hype they want.

The only games needed at launch will be those that appeal to hardcore gamers. Casual gamers aren't going to be a factor. The only way to obtain a 360 this Fall (at least in the US) is going to be via preorder. Or maybe off of EBay at inflated prices.

Casuals do not do this. What is more important for MS is the second wave of games in the Spring/Early Summer timeframe. Japan? They really have no chance in Hell. They'd be smarter to take the majority of those systems and ship them to the US.

The US will be the most closely contested territory this time. I expect MS to have about a 4-5 million system head start in the US by the time Sony launches. Not as much as they'd like, but much better than the Dreamcast...
