Well yeah its a moot point anyway as both versions are virtually indentical and you'd have to be anal to complain about both. Least it gives IGN something to fill up the site with. Oh go on here are the main points.

Winner Ranking:
1. Xbox(better textures, better sound, faster framerate (marginally), better online audio; medium advantage)
2. PlayStation 2 (better spark effects (more glow) and bloom effects.

By the way the say in 480p both versions look stunning. And for some reason the garage menu run at 30fps on the PS2 compared with 60 on the Xbox. God knows why though.

If you read it, they pretty much say the Xbox and PS2 graphically are even, with a very slight edge to the Xbox.

If only Criterion didn't have to mess up the voice on PS2 with having to press a button to talk.

Is that the only difference in the framerate they talk about? I honestly haven't seen a game drop a single frame during the actual gameplay on PS2.

Cowboy, I did point that out "both versions are virtually indentical". Its a completely moot article but fun to read none the less.

I just don't like how the framerate drops and becomes choppy in the split-screen multiplayer modes (Xbox version). Grrrr.... :\

I don't know about that. PS2 version supports FF wheel, which is a very nice thing as well.

Eh, I guess it's cool if you have one. Personally, though, I've never really liked controlling a racing game with a wheel be it in an arcade or at home. I know this sounds completely backwards but it just never felt as precise to me. Give me a DS2/Controller S any time.

They already posted the head to head in the official thread, but since all of you are obviously too lazy to look for it there, I'll post it here for you! :D

IGN head to head

Features - Winner Ranking:
1. PlayStation 2/Xbox (tie)

Control - Winner Ranking:
1. Xbox (stronger analog controls, both for acceleration and steering; minor advantage)
2. PlayStation 2(less action on X, slightly less responsive analog stick)

Sound - Winner Ranking:
1. Xbox (custom soundtracks, clearer audio, better separation; major advantage)

Graphics - Winner Ranking:
1. Xbox (higher-res textures, slightly steadier framerate; minor advantage)
2. PlayStation 2 (great particles, nice bloom effects)

Presentation - Winner Ranking:
1. Xbox (faster loading, better online voice support; medium advantage)
2. PlayStation 2 (longer load times, more awkward voice support for PS2)

Final Verdict - Overall Winner: Xbox

Winner Ranking:
1. Xbox(higher-res textures, better audio, slightly faster framerate, better online audio; medium advantage)
2. PlayStation 2 (great effects, solid framerate, good audio, but not the best overall)

It doesn't matter which version is better. If you have the FF wheel then naturally you pick up the PS2 version, if not then you pick up the minimally enhanced Xbox game.

Comeone, there's no point in xbox>>ps2/ps2>>xbox.

You just basically said PS2>Xbox. You're doing it too! :D

And for someone who's not a hardcore racing fan, custom soundtracks>steering wheel (since, as a non-racing game fan, I have none). Though those sparks are damn tempting....

I don't honestly see how people can control this game with a wheel. It is just to damn fast. I would crash into every wall.

Am I correct in assuming you can't transfer saves in the xbox version? So I can't take it to my buddies with everything unlocked.

Yeah man...Custom Soundtrack made this game 50 times better for me. The default music is barftacular. Actually, it's good music, but not for a fast paced, hi-octane, white knuckle racing game like this.

so is it confirmed that the the xbox FF wheel doesn't woprk with this game at asll. It seems strange that it wouldn,t. i need someone to be a guiney pig.

I hope so. PGR2 was ridiculous with every noob having the TVR on day 1.

I don't think there is a Force Feedback wheel available for Xbox.

Well, I got the XBox version and love it.

Have not gotten the new Logitech wheel yet. Been really waiting for GT4 before I ge that.

Sucks that Logitech does not make it for XBox as well. :(

Stupid questin, the XBox version has 'Custom Soundtrack' option? How the heck do you enable it if this is so. I couldn't figure it out using the menus, and i must have missed it in the manual. I guess I'm really dropped the ball.........

Don't worry about it, it's actually quite cumbersome to figure it out.

Select Driver Details from the Main Menu
Select Settings
Select EA GAMES TRAX
Now here simply press the X button to select what Music compilation (the one you created within the Dashboard) to play in the game.
Unfortunately the game doesn't save this setting so you'll have to do it everytime you want to boot up.

I advise that you go ahead and disable the DJ within the Audio options of the Settings page. He gets annoying VERY quickly.

Thanks for the info........... :)

I've already shut up the DJ, and turned down the in-game music. Now I can blast my tunes! Can't wait to get home and try this out.

Yup, that is correct. Unless somebody with a modded XBox and some hard work really wants to, but I don't think that will be a problem with this game. You can have a demon car and it doesn't mean squat because you have to drive it properly, and then there's the in-game traffic and overall random surprises. I loved how the nuances of the game actually account for a lot of the balance. I've have 15 seconds leads and due to a screw up or coming around the corner into a red light traffic jam has cost me many a race. This game keeps you on your toes...I LOVE IT!!

Custom soundtrack option >>>>>>> any supposed benefit the PS2 version has

The EA Trax stuff is pretty horrible. As much as I love a spinning EA logo to appear in the corner of the screen every two minutes, the songs are completely not my style.

A proper FF wheel was released earlier this year at least in the uk it was. http://www.thrustmaster.com/ http://www.gameseek.co.uk/productdetail/XboxEU1IMXK2C9CQW8Q1/

HMV seems to be the only uk high street store that sells it though (at least thats the only place i've seen it) and they have it for about £60.

im not sure which games support it i think so far only PGR2 AND rallisport 2 do. but i cant remember.

I don't think PGR2 supports it. I'm trying to find out if RSC2 does though. I would be more than happy if it does. Sega GT also supports it. And there may be a chance that OR2 will support it as well.

Customer review:

VERY poor wheel!!!!

I have had a lot of steeing wheels for lots of consoles and this is the worst ever. Firstly clamp screw was missing, took almost 4 weeks for a replacemnt to be sent from canada. But worse than that is the performance of the wheel, there is a large dead zone in the steering wheel{ about 15 degrees left and right }, and there is about 1 inch of dead zone travel in the foot pedals which makes it impossible to control the car accurately, oh and also the wheel makes a noise ever time u try to turn left.

It's from the same site as in your links. j00 gotta scroll down a bit...
