IGN insider or Gamespot subscription

Which do you guys suggest so that I can watch all the E3 videos? I've gone the IGN insider route the past couple of years, but I'm having a hard time rationalizing paying $20 for either of them just so I can watch a ton of videos.

What are my options?

well since IGN are streaming the press conferences for the first time this year...it might be worth keeping.

Gamespot is the best by far. I love their video reviews and their scores do not seem as inflated as IGN's. For E3 videos though I would recomend getting DC++ or checking out the torrent sites as both IGN and GS will most likley be running slow due to heavy trafic.

Does that 10% discount at ebgames.com for Gamespot Complete stack with any other discounts ebgames might offer? Can you use it as often as you want?

The 10% off discount can't be used with any other coupons but you can use it as much as you want.

Funny shit.

My IGN sub expires May 16. (I am going to renew)

I recall subscribing 2 years ago the day before the conferences.

I can recall people talking about DC++, but I have no clue what that is.
If someone would like to help a noob out and learn then I would rather do that simply cause I have no use for the sites other than E3.

Same here-the 16th is the day my IGN account is no more. I've gone with them since 2003 and I've been happy with their service. They claim that it may take up to 3 weeks for an account to be activated/renewed if you send them payment by mail. I guess I'll play it safe and use my brother's debit card this year.

Add me to this list...

I was with gamespot last year, and was very happy with their conferences and stuff, but cancelled with them and will be trying IGN this year, I don't know.. something pissed me off about them, they seemed amateurish in comparison to IGN, I don't care about the scores so going to IGN doesn't phase me too much.

I have both and I prefer Gamespot, no contest. They have higher bandwidth (I download at a steady >500KB, whereas IGN rarely goes over 130-140), higher quality videos that they don't split into smaller files like IGN does. Generally they have more videos too. I'd reccomend both of them anyway, but if you have to choose go Gamespot. Well, IGN will do much better coverage of the booth babes, if you are interested.

IGN by far. Cancelling a Gamespot Complete subscribtion is an exercise in frustration and the site layout is horrible. I find it much easier to locate what I'm looking for at IGN. Now that IGN is streaming the conferences there's really no reason to go with Gamespot.

File sharing program.
google is your friend ;)

Btw Are IGN's boards down? Every time I click on a thread I'm redirected to a subscription page. But I already have an Insider account and payed last month for a whole year. Now I have to pay again?

Team Xbox and their boards are also down.

Yes I'm logged in. I have access to the normal Insider stuff (Videos etc) but if I click on a thread I only see a subscription page :-(
I think the boards require a separate login?

Question!

IGN uses Quicktime videos right? but for the live conference they will be using Windows media right?

GS uses only windows media format for all of the videos dont they?

i cant install QT at work so i can only watch Windows media format, so wich one should i get a subscription at?

Ill probably get Gamespot for a month, only $7, and i know their coverage is good. There unsubscribe function actually works now too so it'll be worth it.

Not always, but I'm often stuck on dial-up... are Gamespot Complete downloads resumer-friendly? (I use GetRight, for example.) Otherwise, there's not much joy in paying for access to 180 Meg videos that you can't download...

GS has a download manager which you can resume if you're in dialup but it has some spyware shit ... well had I think they got rid of it, only used it once while it was in beta.

Both sites uses QT and WM Formats, Streams are 90% WMV cause QT causes some browser glitches in IE and Firefox, but not all the time, get something like QT Alternative and you're set.

Insider works with download managers. I use Download Express and it increases download speed as well.

I went with GS this time. They always have an impressive booth at E3 it looks like they're running mission control over there. Im guessing coverage should be pretty good.

I'm tempted to go gamespot because IGN's flash crap is horrible in firefox. But I can't stand gamespot's site either, and I generally have an IGN account anyway for thier quicktime movies.

Don't fail me on the conference feeds IGN! =P

Well, I have renewed IGN for a year and got a 1 month sub at Gamespot. I will see how I like it.

I did do a 1 month at Gamespot last year as well but did not extend it.

IGN seems less cluttered but Gamespot is a bit better in some areas.

Depends what you want I guess?

Just signed up for a month with GS to tide me over for E3. IGN is generally better with the media, but their website has tanked. :lol

Working fine for me. Heh, they better not tank, all my eggs are in that basket!
