IGN Xbox predicts the future. Why?

Look, it's a slow time for everyone. And Doug Perry's boss prob has a pistol to his head.

(Tal, put down the gun and walk away slowly.)

Even though I don't believe it, just for the record:

1. I will never pay more than $15-20 (TOPS) for any XBLA game.
2. I will never pay more than $60 (TOPS) for Live Gold. Unless they start using dedicated servers for all 360 games. Even then, no more than $75, ever.

[They predict increase in Xbox Live subscription fees and increase in price for XBLA games (around 30 bucks for some of the more expensive ones).

Man I hope Nintendo doesn't try to pull this shit with the downloadable games.

wasn't Pandemic purchased by THQ? How could they be working on Mercenaries 2 for Lucasarts?

Pandemic formed a partnership with BioWare. Not sure who has been gobbled up by THQ, but it wasn't Pandemic.

Let's see you walk away from those 10,000+ gamecard points you've racked up by next year. I dare ya! :D

That is Microsoft's strategy in a nutshell. The gamecard and points you've earned over time is gonna feel like an investment that most online gamers are not likely to walk away from. I know they've got me hooked pretty good already.

$100 XBL renewal next year? Ok, but just this once. :lol

I couldn't even tell you how many gamerpoints I have right now. That's how little I care about them. I'm not putting anyone down who puts the time in for all the achievement points - I'm just not personally interested in trying to get all the points for any of the games I own. And I'm not willing to spend more than $20 for a game unless I can hold the actual disc/manual/box in my hands, or spend more than $60 for peer-to-peer connections.

The same IGN Xbox who gave Wreckless:The Yakuza Missions a 9.0?

LOL
What the hell does Wreckless' score have to do with this article?
I don't like IGN Xbox that much, this article is certainly stupid, but I just fail to see how both these things connect.

IGN Board of Directors #1: We need to get people talking about us. I don't care how, we just need something.

IGN Board of Directors #2: Well, I could get Matt at IGN Cube on the horn...

IGN Board of Directors #1: Na, let's have the Xbox guy say something stupid this week instead.

If you went to the local store to buy bread and the storeowner spat in your face and called your mother a whore would you go back there for milk the next week?

Aaron Boulding, the guy that wrote that review and the reviews of many other early Xbox games at that site, hasn't worked there in years. So no, it's not the same IGN Xbox.

WTF?? That's got to be the single worst comparison I've ever read. :lol

If XBLA developers have to charge $30 for their games, they aren't getting the concept of XBL Arcade.

Yeah, I can only assume they meant marketplace content like SiN Episodes is possibly going to be.

Oh he still shows his inability to write reviews from time to time at IGN.

NCAA March Madness 06
Let's dance. The junior hoop franchise takes a half step closer to the spirit of the college game.
by Aaron Boulding

8.7 Grrrrrrreat

A review so bad he gets panned by the IGN reviewer of CH 2K6 for giving MM 06 such a high score.

Aaron gave EA's NCAA 06 March Madness an 8.7 earlier in the year, but I feel that was a bit of a stretch, and that 2K6 is still the better basketball game even though I will give it a lower score. Simply put, I disagree with the Madness score, and I feel that 2K6 is an impressive game, on the cusp of greatness. And here at IGN, greatness is higher than 8.5.

I stopped reading that tripe when they blew off Gears of War. WTF. How do you pass that game up, on the notion that it's not innovative? Of course it's not really innovative; lack of innovation sure hasn't stopped IGN Xbox from passing out 9-9.8's like Ritalin (Halo 2, innovative? Wigga Please).

Prey looks amazing, but I don't see why the games are even being compared. Prey is not going to steal any spotlight. If anything it might wind up being criminally ignored, at least on the consoles. I truly cannot wait to play it.
