Everyone knows the Republicans and Trump and their cohort of neo-fascists are a bunch of vile human beings that inflict pain, misery, and death upon both US citizens and the rest of the world. The bar is simply so incredibly low when it comes to opposing their vile policies.
But I also hope that the people who realize the above don't remain complacent if/when other politicians will be in charge of the US. I'm terrified that once Trump & the more visible symptoms of white supremacy are beaten back (I believe they will, although the after-effects will last), liberals and progressives are going back to business as usual. Of course, I'd be happy for the US to be free from far-right tyranny, but I'm afraid that people forget what horror your country has inflicted on the world since World War 2 and that US military imperialism, milquetoast climate change inaction and global capitalism will simply be replaced with a smiling Democratic face instead of a neo-fascist one.
These days it seems to me that people are thinking that if Trump is removed or if Repbulicans are beaten back, things will go back to "normal". This makes me afraid, since the state of things before Trump weren't good either - you still have rising inequality, you still have drones & extrajudicial murders in the Middle East, you still had police gunning down black people with impunity, you still had the prison system incarcerating the most people in the whole world, you still had an insane amount of people on food stamps, you still had a lack of inaction against climate change and massive over-consumption in the US, and so forth.
So I guess I'm afraid of the 'if only Hilary had won' crowd who would want to go back to sleep if things were different. It makes me worried that if/when a new election 3 years from now change the face of the US imperialist hyper-capitalist white supremacist patriarchal nation, that unaffected liberals will think everything is fine now, since the president is no longer openly and explicitly a neo-fascist.
