The judges ruled the right to privacy was "an intrinsic part of Article 21 that protects life and liberty".

The ruling has implications for the government's vast biometric ID scheme, covering access to benefits, bank accounts and payment of taxes.

"Discrimination against an individual on the basis of sexual orientation is deeply offensive to the dignity and self-worth of the individual. Equality demands that the sexual orientation of each individual in society must be protected." - The Supreme Court.

The marital rape exemption not only robs a woman from right to control of her body but also denies her the right — compared to a single woman — to attain legal help against her attacker. The Supreme Court verdict states that Right to Privacy is a “right which protects the inner sphere of the individual from interference from both State, and non-State actors and allows the individuals to make autonomous life choices.” The verdict opens doors to criminalise marital rape.
